YHC got to the 116 a little before 0600 and saw a great crowd for EC. Haavaad, Skynyrd, Landline, Beaker, Padre and YHC rucked 3.3 miles and got back to the flag a little before 0700 where Ma Bell was waiting for us. Someone said Chimi might show but he posted last Saturday so we won’t see him again for about 4 months ;)

Disclaimer given and we were off towards the 4th Street parking garage. On the way, YHC informed the PAX that we were not only going to log some miles but get a good beatdown in since all of us would be consuming extreme calories this coming Thursday. Great mumblechatter all the way to the garage about the GrowRuck event. All YHC could say from listening to all the stories was that we have some real kick ass dudes in F3 and NEVER and I mean NEVER use Skynyrd’s gloves!

Once we got to the garage, we met at the base of the staircase where PAX would bearcrawl all the way to the top and at each level, perform 10 merkins. At the top, we went outside and found a nice spot on the wall where we put all the ruck sacks in a pile and performed People’s Chair. During People’s Chair, we passed all the ruck sacks from the pile to the other end and once they got to the end, we passed them all the way back. We then rucked back up and found a nice corner. YHC asked Beaker his favorite number (15) then asked him how old he was (11) so we had a nice number of 26. YHC then informed the PAX that at each level going down, a PAX would be chosen to call out and lead us in an exercise. YHC called on Padre first who called out burpees so we started with a bang. Other exercises on the way down included SSH, flutter kicks (with ruck overhead), squats and overhead run press. At the bottom level, it was YHC’s turn so we found a spot on the wall and performed Australian Mountain Climbers (with each PAX calling out to 5 with a four count cadence) then we did BTTW with a 3 count from each PAX.

After that fun, we headed to the Town Commons. At the Commons we met at one end of the walkway behind the amphitheater. Partnered up and performed partner wheel barrows. The the partner who was the wheel barrow could not go any further, each partner would perform 25 squats and then flapjack. Did this about half of the walkway to behind the amphitheater. From there, rucks overhead all the way to the other end of the walkway. We were getting close on time so YHC decided to head back to the flag but on the way back, Ma Bell discovered a nice hill so he wanted to bear crawl the hill. YHC agreed but then added we would do the hill twice, with a bear crawl first time up and then a crab walk. After that audible, rucked back to 116 and circled up right at 0800 for the COT

YHC has really enjoyed the shift of 116 being more mileage based but it’s always good to mix it up every now and then and put a little beatdown in there. Think this Q achieved that as  the PAX seemed to enjoy the pain that was brought. But at the end of the day, nothing can beat, throwing some weight on your back and hitting the pavement all while hearing great stories of recent events or helping out a brother with a situation. At times, there is no better medicine than a good ruck with your brothers to get things off your chest. Seems that between EC and the beatdown 116 seems to do that each Saturday! Until next time…
