YHC has been on the calendar to Q #116 for a while, but things have come up that have pushed it back. First was the Coffee/Donut ruck, and then there was the Farmville Convergence. Finally the date was set for 2/2, and YHC knew exactly what to do. There was a rucking challenge put out there by RuckingChallenges.com for February to do 86 flights of stairs for the 86 fallen firefighters in 2018. Stabler and YHC came up with a plan to make sure it could be completed in the allotted time. During EC before #TheClydesdales (best AO on Thursdays that is located at The Stadium!) we tested out the stairs at the new parking deck to see how long it would take. Based on our advanced math skills and calculations, we figured it would take about 55 minutes to complete, which presented a dilemma because we needed to account for time to get to the deck and leaving the deck. We decided that we would put out on twitter that if anyone wanted to complete the challenge to show up at 0600 and we would get started, then go back to #116 to pick up anyone else and then finish the challenge.

We had 12 for EC (YHC, Tonka, 4-leaf, BJ, Candy Cane, Noonan, Bambino, Abu, Bench, Mayhem, Stabler and Dude Perfect) and we ended up completing the entire challenge in roughly 40-45 minutes. We returned to #116 at 0700 to find Cousteau, and at this time BJ and 4-leaf had to leave due to prior obligations. Tonka was going to start with us but had to leave at 0715.

We circled up. YHC gave everyone the plan that since we already completed the challenge, we would just get some mileage, with a little PT mixed in. There was a sigh of relief from a few PAX members. The clock struck 0700, and we set off, and it went something like this:

  • Down 3rd street towards downtown, left on Pitt St
  • Right on 1st St
  • Right on Contanche St
  • Right on 4th St and entered the parking deck and went to the top for some exercises
    • 10 Squats, 10 Ruck Curls, 15 flutter kicks, 10 Overhead Ruck press
  • Back down the parking deck, Left on 4th St
  • Right on Washington St
  • Left on 1st St
  • Right on Greene St
  • Took the Greene St Bridge all the way down to the Speedway and entered the lot across the street from he Speedway for exercises
    • 10 Squats, 10 Ruck Curls, 15 4-count Flutter kicks, 10 Overhead Ruck press
  • Right on Pitt St
  • Right on 3rd St
  • Took 3rd St down to Davis St, and then turned around to return to 116

YHC Prayed us out

Moleskin

YHC had to come up with a plan on the fly. The expectation was that we were going to have to spend at least 20 minutes finishing up the 86 flights during the actual workout, but that wasn’t the case. So the plan was to keep it simple since just about all of us had ;already put our legs through a lot of torture. We kept a real good pace. When I usually ruck, I typically keep around a 17 minute pace, but I knew with Abu, Bambino, Noonan and some others that we would be going a lot faster than that. Abu made the comment that “The Q juice must be flowing, because Chimi is moving!”. I was able to lead the group pretty much the whole way, which I’m happy about because I’ve been trying to work on my pace to get faster. Well done guys! Until next time…
