This was the last of our five-part series on integrating faith into all aspects of our lives.  The lesson series covered:

  • Foundation (Christ as the ultimate example of an life with completely integrated faith with purpose of fulfilling the will of the Father)
  • Personal Transformation – Being transformed and placed on a new missional purpose path as a Christ-follower by the power of the Holy Spirit
  • Integrating Faith in Career
  • Integrating Faith in Family
  • Integrating Faith in Community (both the community of believers and the larger/broader community in which we live)

YHC had made some changes in the living room, so the PAX had to adjust.  Wondered if we’d have a good turnout after last week’s colossal dinner and study session for the Rambo send off.  The hour approached and PAX rolled in.  Ten in all, to include a new neighbor, Conch Fritter.

Disclaimer:  Non given.  No FNG’s

Warm Up:

  • YHC made some announcements about the intent to continue the Tues Nite study and solicited suggestions/input from the PAX on what topic or part of the Bible to study next.
  • Conducted short review, and allowed PAX to share any thoughts from the previous week’s material.
  • Several shared about how meaningful the honest and open sharing and discussion had been the week before.  #impactful

The Thang:

  • Started video segment on faith in community
  • Reviewed the many ways that God has revealed that He is a God of relationships, and that Jesus worked through relationships and within the communities that He circulated
  • Faithful living is not to be done in isolation, and that involves meeting regularly in the fellowship of believers (church body).
  • We are to witness and grow while doing life together in intimate and serving relationships (1 Thes 2:7-8)
  • Discussed service and witness in and to the greater community, and our role as citizens of the local, state and federal government
  • Great discussion on how living out our faith can trigger curiosity in those observing our behaviors, which in turn, can prompt conversations about faith and purpose that perhaps would not have happened if initiated in a more forceful and direct manner.

COT:

Prayer Requests:  Unspoken, Praise for Walters Family situation, Wisdom for Communicating with our Children, Speedy Recovery for Steamy’s Wife after Surgery, Wimpie and situation with young person, Salty – start of school semester, Hot Pursuit – ongoing prayer for oldest son Chris and battle with depression

Moleskin:

This fellowship of men to exercise the 3rdF (Faith) is rich.  PAX are feeling the Spirit and the great boost that comes with locking shields in this way and uniting to learn more from scripture and focus on things eternal.  We are not alone in our struggles, and we have a Big God who cares and wants us to be courageous and men of impact.  Shining Christ’s light in all areas of life and even our most mundane of interactions with others through relationships and investments of ourselves in others can yield much!

1 Thessalonians 2:7-8 (ESV)

But we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children. So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.
