In my VQ I wanted to showcase a little bit of of my Hokie Pride and draw from my Scottish roots.

Warmup

In honor of Virginia Tech’s best basketball season in program history and today being their first round game in the NCAA tournament, we started out with
The Blacksburg Bounce (AKA Side Straddle Hops) 15 in cadence. QIC almost let his turkey out of the pen, but all birds were contained and the warm up proceeded.

15 Good Mornings

15 Mountain Climbers (paying homage to the Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding VT’s campus)

15 Imperial Walkers (as VT tries to over through that Empire from Durham, not NC Central, with the number 1 seed)

15 Don Quixotes

The Thang

After a short mozy to the rock pile, PAX grabbed a rock and stayed in cadence for
10 bent over rows
10 rock squats
10 overhead presses
10 tricep extensions

In honor of Scotland, QiC’s ancestral homeland, PAX combined all into the caber rocks with a bent over row moving into a squat moving into an overhead press and a tricep extension in slow cadence just like the caber toss at the highland games.

PAX then mozied along the track to the first intersection with 10 plank jacks OYO

The mozy continued to the second intersection with 10 burpees OYO

The mozy then brought the pax to the softball field where we counted off by 2s.
1’s lunged to 1st base, 2’s lunged to 3rd. At the corners pax tuned toward 2nd base and bear crawled toward a partner for 10 partner merkins. Pax grumbled at the small amount of mud.

The mozy then continued to the left field fence for the people’s chair with a 10 count down the line. Inspired by the full moon overhead, Spinal Tap’s count was loud and proud and able to be heard by FiA and likely Neil Armstrong’s ghost on the moon overhead.

The mozy continued to the shelter with partner exercises. One partner did 10 dips on the benches while the other did 5 stand ups.
The pax then formed a plank line and each man bear crawled under to the end.

The mozy continued back to the flag with some sprints and slow jogs from flag to trees with progressive distance added. The pax formed two lines with the first man in line running down to a tree, doing 10 murkins, and running back while #2 in line did plank jacks, and remaining pax planked until all men ran.

The pax then lunged to and around the circle stopping at the other rock pile on they way back. They grabbed a pair of rocks (from the pile, not their turkey) and curled the rocks in a walk along the sidewalk to the flag and back to the pile. Once back at the pile 10 rocks flies OYO ended the beatdown.

COT/BOM

Prayer requests for healing of injured pax and return of those who haven’t been out in the gloom in a while.
