One of the Foundational Points in being a Virtuous Leader in F3 is Preparedness. One concise way of saying this is that a virtuous leader must “get ready for the expected while being for the unexpected.”  A virtuous leader must become Right. Cousin IT asked a question among some of our more experienced pax about the last time we posted at a boot camp. The idea was that there are hard lessons we learned at bootcamps that need to remain in our F3ENC culture as an organization. The next four Qs YHC prepares will focus on two things: Becoming Prepared through the four quadrants of the G3L (Get Right, Live Right, Lead Right, Leave Right) and bringing consciousness to how our brothers in F3Sandhills are living 3rd for a worthy cause – Pilgrim’s Promise. 23 studs showed up at BLP for a “breakdown”.

Warmup – To Get Right a man sometimes must simply start. Sometimes it’s as simple as stepping on a scale. Sometimes that requires accountability, like texting a photo of that scale to your ShieldLock to hold you accountable. We decided to worm up with “Follow Me” run with accountability burpees at the gym circle. This was a burpee ladder from 10 with a surprise at the end.

The Thang – We next completed a set of Wimpie Legs: Jump Squats, Jump Lunges, Mule Kicks x 10 each repeated twice. Because we didn’t want the arms to feel neglected we did a series of Sun Goddesses in the style of Victor Vector from Raleigh. These things will make you wish you were a T-Rex with wimpie little arms. Forward, backward, and static hold.

Mosey to the Rocks – Get to know another man – his strengths, his fears, his hopes.

To Live Right is to focus your life on Purposefulness. In F3 that can be represented through our mission “to plant, grow, and serve small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership.” In order to Live Right, we must be a team and move as a team, think as a team, and use the strengths of the team. To move as a team we complete the following in cadence: 8-Count Body Builder & Brickyard Man Makers. We witnessed how exhaustion makes cowards of us all as the unity of the team during the first several Body Builders fell all to crap at the end, thus the Man Makers to recover that unity.

The next move to live right is to move with a purpose as a team. The scenario cast a desperate task. One pax was a medic. All the other men and their rocks had to be moved to the Evac area ASAP. No one could move until them and their rock got to the Evac area and they were “revived”. Once revived that man became another medic…We made this move in 8 minutes. The men waiting did a series of Mary Exercises while waiting.

We then moseyed to the wall to gain a brief respite from the wind. After a few 10-count People’s Chair, the Q became antsy and shifted things. The pax lined up for some different kind of sprints. We moseyed, we sprinted, we broad jumped (or bunny hopped as some pax called it) and we skipped. We designated Ma Bell as the F3 ENC fullback b/c that stud is a brick house that can sprint.

Mary – We had to do some Mary to strengthen our core, so we finished with WWI in the rain and then a Thankful Plank. Men explained what they were thankful for in about 3 words while holding plank.

BOM/COT – The Q did something different today. We ended a COT, but one with just the Lords Prayer. Part of that was a piece of culture from Denver where it’s often too cold to kneel and part of that was b/c the Qs brain was thinking about other things. The count was done via photo and the names will be gathered over the next little bit if I miss you.

Moleskin – This Q is was inspired by a couple of recent GORUCK events and the QSource book. If you don’t have a copy, consider getting one on Amazon. It is filled with “evolutionary” leadership principles that I find myself learning and training with leaders across the county. The concepts have held true over time and are worth studying as you get Prepared for Rightness.

Be aware of Pilgrim’s Progress – https://www.pilgrimsprogress.solutions/ This is a ministry started by Billy Thomas in Pinehurst, NC. Billy is Flying Tomato to his F3 Brothers. He is a man of “respect” who moves like a 30-yr old, except for his knees. He loves a flip phone so face to face contact or even email is the best way to contact his organization. He is a man who literally opened up Shadow Lawn, a mansion in old Pinehurst, to his F3 Brothers for GrowRuck and to groups and individuals around the state. He literally follows the Gospel in serving those who most need love.

Between today and Dec 11th, Bono is going to Q 4 bootcamp workouts and bring a different message and level of pain. The request is to donate what you can, when you can to Pilgrim’s Promise. Use PayPal.Me/F3Bono on PayPal to make a donation and Bono will send in or click on the website and the contact tab to make a direct donation. I can promise you that this is one of those organizations where the founder literally put his money where his mouth is and they are doing great work by the efforts your brothers who attended GrowRuck 17 witnessed first hand.
