Zachary Tellier (pronounced te_LEAR), 31, official address is from Charlotte, NC, but considered himself to be from Manchester, NH. He was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. Rescued 2 fellow soldiers from a burning vehicle after it road over a bomb. He suffered severe burns to his hands and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with valor and the Purple Heart. “Zachary Tellier has to be the biggest hero I’ve ever known or heard of, not just because of what he did, but because of his personality,” Layton (Lieutenant that made Tellier exit vehicle after returning fire due to his injuries) said. “He came in the Army because he wanted to be around soldiers and serve his country, and he paid the ultimate sacrifice.” Tellier died some years later from gunshot wounds received during a prolonged firefight with the Taliban in Afghanistan on September 29, 2007:
