On a fateful night last fall, Belly Dancer and YHC dreamed a dream. As a college pastor, I had been yearning to see more college students posting at F3. I had headlocked several, but rarely did they last; 0530 proved too high a barrier. But then the dream – what if we launched an AO on campus on the other side of the gloom? Months of planning ensued. Research suggested that 9PM on Tuesdays would offer an optimal time for the college schedule. This Tuesday, the dream became reality. Even though 39 degrees and rain kept some Sad Clowns away (they had to “study”), 10 PAX showed up and showed out. It felt like the start of something special.

Warm up:

Plank-o-rama – borrowing from Grammar’s wisdom, I instructed the PAX to imagine holding a penny between the cheeks to ensure core engagement. Butt jokes, predictably, ensued.

The thang:

Dora: 100 WWI’s, 200 Mountain Climbers, and 300 Copperhead Squats. The sprint across the field was a soggy slog, which energized the cold PAX.

Four Corners: Corner 1 Merkin Mania, Corner 2 Lunge-o-rama, Corner 3 Mary, Corner 4 twenty burpees. YHC had planned to rinse and repeat, but the 20 burps convinced him otherwise. Rather we moseyed to the bottom of the stairs.

Elevens: Dips at the bottom, step ups at the bottom. Hot Spot informed YHC that he had mis-spoken after he had given these instructions and that we would do step ups at the top. As it turned out, YHC had not mis-spoken; he just desired the PAX to run double the amount of stairs. Sorry Hot Spot.

During Elevens, YHC realized that the 44th minute of our beatdown had sneaked up like a thief in the night. Time flies when you’re running stairs. We moseyed back to the flag to wrap up a successful experiment.

Prayer Requests: Sickness and death haunt this fallen world. We prayed for healing and for those who are mourning.

Moleskin: Experiments are all about testing a hypothesis. Our first go round yielded mixed results. Four students including one FNG beat the fartsack (or the “study room” as they called it). Next week we’ll run more tests with more favorable conditions and see if we get better results.
