Tonka said it best, hardest part of the race is the finish.  The moment you have to dig down deep and finish strong.  The purpose of the workout.

Climbing down the ladder:

800 meter warm up

1200m run at long run pace minus 30 seconds
400m easy

800m run at long run pace minus 60 seconds
400m easy

400m run at 5K pace
400m easy

rinse and repeat
