Today was the big day.  Two weeks ago Rafiki asked YHC if he could conduct his very first Q (VQ) on this date.  YHC was excited about the opportunity and willingly said yes.  In preparation for today, YHC did all he could to make sure the workout was going to be at least 45 minutes and effective.  Once he had the idea and exercises set, he performed the routine twice to make sure it was both.  YHC had everything set a week before the big day and all he could do was wait.  However, the weekend before the big day, YHC started catching a cold and even had a fever of 103 degrees the night before his VQ.  He didn’t want the sickness to stop him from his VQ and decided he was going to push through.  And so, 0530 came about, 10 pax were at the site and then it was time to…

Warm-Up

10 Side Straddle Hops IC

10 Merkins IC

10 Squats IC

The Thang

We moseyed on over to the “rock pit” in order to each grab a rock.  It was told to the PAX that the rock would be with them the entire workout and to choose wisely.  Once everyone had their “friend” for the workout, we moseyed on over to the closest field goal post.  It was around this time Goggles (Respect) came to the site.  He quickly grabbed a rock and met up with the rest of the PAX; bringing the total number of PAX to 11… obviously.  The first set (Round One) of exercises were:

15 Lying Down Genuine (chest press with a kick out) IC

15 March and Reach IC

15 Bucket Brigade on the Up Count (15 to the right and the 15 to the left)

15 Lunge Rock Pass IC

Not too much mumble chatter during round one.  The PAX did a great job making it through.  It was then time to mosey over to the next field goal post.  Round Two exercises consisted of:

15 Side Lunge Row IC (15 to the right and the 15 to the left)

15 Imperial Walkers IC

30 Straight Arm Flutter Kicks IC

15 Squat Lunge Press IC

The mumble chatter started picking up at this point.  A few of the PAX were upset with the 30 Flutter Kicks since we had been doing 15 reps of each exercise up to this point.  Still, the PAX pulled through and so we moseyed over to the Picnic Area.  Round Three exercises consisted of:

15 The Hodor IC (Squat Press Tricep Press)

30 Side Straddle Press IC

15 American Hammer IC

15 Sumo Squats IC

The mumble chatter was for real now.  A lot of the PAX stopped after 15 reps of the Side Straddle Press even though YHC did not fluctuate his voice during the 15th rep.  Then, right before performing Sumo Squats, Aquaman asked for a demonstration.  YHC quickly obliged and didn’t think anything of it.  Not until he heard Aquaman talking to Cousin IT saying the request was made to basically create more time in between exercises.  Touche Aquaman… Touche.  After the third round was completed, the PAX were then asked to drop their rock friend, run to the far end of the beach, run back to your rock friend and then bring them to the beach.  YHC was not as fast a Rafiki and so when Rafiki got back to our rock friends he ended up taking YHC’s rock.  YHC was now stuck with Rafiki’s rock.  The rest of the PAX grabbed their rocks and made their way to the beach.  Round Four exercises consisted of:

15 Single Leg Curls for Girls on the Up Count (15 on the right leg and the 15 on the left)

14 Three Hop Press IC

15 WWI’s into WWII’s IC

15 Pistol Squats on the Up Count (15 on the right leg and the 15 on the left)

Still had some mumble chatter throughout Round Four, but the PAX did another great job getting through the round.  It was now time to mosey over to the pool house.  It was told to the PAX the next set of exercises will be AMRAP and that we wouldn’t stop until all PAX had failed.  And so at the pool house we did:

Steering Wheel AMRAP

After the first exercise was completed, YHC then asked Grammar to pick one rock.  He was initially going to pick one of the lighter rocks until he realized we were going to do the next exercise as a team.  He ended up picking Fruity Pebbles’ rock which was a “solid” choice as Fruity Pebbles had one of the heavier rocks.  The next exercise the PAX did was:

People’s Chair Rock Pass AMRAP

Due to time constraints, we had to stop the exercise before six of the PAX had failed.  We then moseyed back to the rock pit to say goodbye to our friends and then moseyed back to the flag where we held plank until the workout time was complete.

BOM

Aquaman is traveling to another country called California (his words) on Wednesday.

YHC closed us out in prayer.

COT

Lunch at Super Mercado El Rancho on Tuesday

COOP Strong Race this weekend

Moleskin

It was awesome to see so many men beat the fart sack and come out for early morning workout.  The PAX did a tremendous job this morning.  Even with a lot of the exercises having a high number of reps (especially the exercises performed in cadence) they didn’t quit and kept pushing through.  Thank you to everyone in the PAX who made my VQ experience a great one.  I enjoyed preparing for the workout and being your Q for today.  I hope everyone has a blessed day.
