Less than a month ago, YHC saw a post on Slack looking for volunteers to Q at the Collard Patch in July.  Up to this point YHC has Q’d at a different site without any repeats.  However, since the Collard Patch was where YHC had his VQ he decided he would volunteer to go back and Q at the site again.  YHC used all rocks for the beatdown the first time around and wanted to change things up.  So, YHC came up with a two-man team beatdown for the second go round.  The morning came, it was 0515 and Rafiki came into the parking lot.  Rafiki told YHC he was still taking on the challenge of running at least 1-mile until the 4th of July.  When Rafiki finished YHC asked how fast he ran it.  Rafiki stated he wasn’t sure because Strava crashed when he finished the run.  So, for those who are listening, YHC did see Rafiki run 1-mile even if Strava doesn’t reflect it.  0530 came and so it was time to…

WARMUP

10 x SSH IC

10 x Merkins IC

10 x Squats IC

THE THANG

The PAX were told to choose a partner; YHC partnered with Pothole, Rafiki partnered with Whatley and Aquaman partnered with Duff.  The two-man teams would work with each other through the entire beatdown, and each exercise would require the teams to work together.  The PAX were then told each round of exercises would consist of 3 x sets of 10 x reps.  Partner 1 would perform an exercise and help Partner 2 for their exercise.  Once the 10 reps were completed the partners would switch roles, perform 10 reps of the same exercise and then move onto the next exercise.  Then when the 3 x sets of all exercises were completed the PAX would move to another location to begin another round of exercises.

Round 1 (Playground):

Exercise 1 – Partner 1 held plank.  Partner 2 put their feet on Partner 1’s back and performed Derkins.

Exercise 2 – Partner 1 held a banana pose (lying on the back with feet and arms six inches from the ground).  Partner 2 jumped over Partner 1’s feet.

Exercise 3 – Partner 1 sat on the ground with hands by the ears.  Partner 2 stood behind Partner 1 and applied light pressure to the hands.  Partner 1 then perform shoulder presses.

Aquaman and Duff trusted each other a little more than the rest of the PAX during Exercise 2.  YHC noticed Duff was jumping over the mid-section of Aquaman during the last set and mentioned something about it.  Luckily the mumble chatter didn’t phase Duff and no one was injured.

Round 2 (Picnic Shelter):

Round 2 required the PAX to simultaneously perform the exercises.

Exercise 1 – Buddy Merkins

Exercise 2 – Pistol Squats (10 x each leg)

Exercise 3 – Outlaws

Round 3 (Futbol Field):

Exercise 1 – Partner 1 held Partner 2’s feet.  Partner 2 wheelbarrowed to the first light post.

Exercise 2 – Once Partner 2 made it to the first light post both men sprinted to the closest futbol goal.

Exercise 3 – Partner 1 held a modified Al Gore (arms straight out).  Partner 2 perform 10 reps (IC) of high knees making sure they hit Partner 1’s hands.

The PAX moseyed back to the start line of the wheelbarrow, switched roles and then performed the three exercises.  3 x sets were performed by each PAX.  After the set was complete, YHC mentioned walking to the next location but then changed it to mosey.  Most of the PAX only heard the first portion and pretended to not notice the audible.  YHC made sure he would say “mosey” for the rest of the workout to avoid any confusion.

Round 4 (other end of Futbol Field):

Exercise 1 – Partner 1 lied on their back and raise their feet in the air.  Partner 2 stood over Partner 1 and push their feet towards the ground.

Exercise 2 – Partner 1 held plank.  Partner 2 crawled under Partner 1 and performed a Burpee on the other side.  As Partner 2 performed a Burpee, Partner 1 went from Plank, to Sphinx and then back to Plank.

During the first set of the exercises, YHC quickly realized how much Exercise 2 hurt.  So he called an audible and told the PAX to only perform two sets instead of three; two out of three ain’t bad.  YHC did not have a name for Exercise 2 but Aquaman mentioned it needed to be named.  YHC believes he heard Whatley say it needed to be named “The Suck” (could be wrong).  Whatley was correct, if YHC heard him correct, because all of the PAX were beat after the second round.

Round 5 (Rock Pit):

The PAX were instructed to grab one rock for each team.

Exercise 1 – Partner 1 performed a squat with the rock and passed it to Partner 2.

Exercise 2 – Both men would sit on the ground and perform American Hammers by passing the rock to each other.

Round 6 (Flag):

Elevator Merkins (YHC called out the floors) until 0615.

Moleskin

It was a fun morning having the PAX work together as a team in order to get through each exercise.  The fellowship was real, the PAX stayed motivated and it appeared everyone had fun (except for maybe “The Suck”).  This made for a great way to start off the work week.  Thank you again Pothole for allowing me to Q today, and I hope everyone has a blessed day.
