Sometimes life goes through patterns. Sometimes you want to run because there is a 1/2 or full marathon or the BRR coming up. Sometimes you want to bootcamp and do pull-ups because a Spartan or MudRun is coming up. For YHC, it’s Rucking season. One of the lessons learned late at night with a ruck on my back was how to move weight with a partner. It can be a brutal proposition. Something unexpected. Today we were going to “be ready for the unexpected” as Dredd calls it. 9 studs entered the unknown. Here’s how it went down.

Warmup: We started with – SSH, High Knees, Butt Kickers, and Toy Soldiers. Me thinks that String Bean predicted many, many SSHs, but the magic number was 21. Just because it’s not expected.

The Thang: We took a mosey around the Winterville District Park. Once the Route was clear, we were ready for the unexpected. It’s almost right at 1/2 mile. At the edge of the baseball field, some fool left the following coupons: #60 sandbag; #50 Ruck; #30 Ruck and three Kettlebells-#35, #30, #25. The task was to carry the unexpected coupon with a partner.

These studs alternated carrying coupons and running. Each time with a different partner. 7 laps were completed. Almost 4 miles were completed depending on how far you ran back for the 6. We ended the morning with Flutter Kicks and a well deserved Have a Nice Day.

COT/BOM: Prayers were offered for those recovering from injuries, including Made me late, Hotspot, and Pied piper. Prayers for Conch Fritter’s Mom, Mary Jane‘s treatment. Prayers for a Grammar’s father-in-law and Die Hards brother. Prayers for Towanda Newsome, Rafiki’s coworker.

Announcements: Read the announcements on the website. Go eat lunch with other studs

Moleskin: Today was a day to get the 2nd F while suffering through the 1st F.  Today was about preparedness. That means getting ready for the expected, while being ready for the unexpected. I have a feeling no one expected to run with coupons. While running, the Pax talked about how sometimes in life you might need to carry someone or something when you’re out for a run. In other words, they got the point without me having to make it. That’s the power of working with high impact men.
