The Mailman is someone I never saw in little old Winton, NC. We had a post office. Today we will play the role of the mailman and visit as many mailboxes as possible. A dirty dozen men posted to see what they could deliver.

The Thang

  • Fartlek – Mosey 3 mailboxes; sprint 1. Continue to the end of the street and come back for the 6.
  • Burpee ladder – Complete burpees at each mailbox. Start with 1 at the first mailbox on the right go up to 5 burpees then back down to 1 burpee.
  • Dang animals – there are no dogs to chase us like they chase the mail men, but bears suck even worse. Complete the following exercises to the next mailbox with a mosey in between: bear crawl, crab walk, flamingo lunge.
  • Sugar Honey Iced Tea – we forgot an important package. Reverse everything back to the finish.
  • FedEX Express – we moseyed back to the track and took a timed 1/4 mile around the track. String Bean pushed the pace at 1:14. No man took longer than 2:53. The CARC Heavy Drop Training motto is “No one cares what you can do fresh.” That is something we learned at the end of this workout. We finished with a final round of Flutter Kicks.

BOM/COT: Prayers for Glow Worms son, Cooper who broke his arm. Prayers for all the ball teams traveling to play ball. Prayers for Robber, my GrowRuck brother who is struggling with addiction. Remember our F3 brothers who are not in the gloom b/c of work, esp See Thru and look for opportunities to work out at other times with them.

Announcements: Bring your Sasquatch water and gator aid. Sign up people.

Moleskin: Today was completely stupid. YHC and String Bean made the 2.6 mile running from his house to the School Yard and back. That was the result of String Bean simply asking “Hey, you want to run to the School Yard with me tomorrow?” Just asking a friend helps keep us accountable.

My GrowRuck Brother Robber made me think hard this morning. He ended a 7 year journey with sobriety last night. He posted a lot on Twitter about it, knowing how he was not individually able to remain accountable. The funny thing with humans is that we always take the path of least resistance, because that is how our brains are wired. We have to have an external force to enforce a standard in order to take the hard and righteous road. Ma Bell reminded me of that at 0613 when we circled up around the flag. The temptation to start the count-a-rama was strong. Ma Bell’s simple phrase “2 more minutes” wall all it took for a final round of Flutter Kicks. Thank you for holding me accountable.

See you tomorrow…
