YHC prepared for the final session of the Radical, by David Platte series.  It has been a good thought-provoking series with messages and discussion questions derived from the book “Radical”.  Had received word that several PAX could not make it for this session due to various conflicts.  Went ahead and prepared the living room, broke open a fresh cookie box, planted the #shovelflag in the front yard, and awaited the arrival of the PAX.  DigaHole and then Cold Cut posted.  That appeared to be all. Small crowd, but as the scripture says, “wherever two or more are gathered together in My Name….”.

Disclaimer:  No FNG’s, none given.  Everyone has figured out by now that I’m not a professional.

Warm-up:  Welcomed the PAX.  Discussed it being the end of the series.  Plan is to suspend the weekly gathering for a period of time and perhaps try some targeted events or very short topic series during the holiday period or perhaps wait and re-start a weekly group in January after the holidays.

The Thang:  Short video segment that just put many of the previous session themes in perspective.  Pastor pointed out that it is important not to be discouraged by the challenges of the scripture and Christ’s command, but to realize He never gives any directive without His promise to help us achieve what is being asked.  He is the power, through His spirit, for us to make progress on our journey.  Caution was given to avoid apathy and to avoid lethargy.  Both are dangerous.  Discussed several things after the video segment.  Guilt is NOT of the Lord.  There is a difference between harmful guilt and the purposeful prodding and discipline/discernment of the Spirit of God in our lives.

COT:

Moleskin:  YHC learned much from the series and developed a renewed focus for awareness of the poor and cautions about materialism and related idols.  This was a powerful series.  The times of discussion and prayer with PAX who attended one or more of the weekly sessions was very valuable.  YHC will be taking a pause in hosting/leading as focus will be on upcoming surgery and recovery.  Looking forward to more opportunities for men to come together for 3rdF-related activities, accountability and spiritual growth.  Hot Pursuit out.
