The US Flag is a symbol. It’s a symbol that means many things to many different people. To those who  fought, created, and died for what it means. 10 studs posted at Blastoff and considered what that flag meant by the end of the morning.

Warmup – We took a quick “Follow me” mosey to Mt Boyd Lee followed by the disclaimer. We completed the following exercises at alternating ends of the Mt Murphy road: Merkins, Squats, Don Quixote, SSH.

The Thang – We then moseyed to the area near the press box for a little life lesson from Jocko, starting at 10 Burpees going down to 1 with a surprise. Jocko lessons were shared. The pax then found a partner and talked about a time when you were proud to be an American and carry the flag as they moseyed to the shelter area past the killer new beach volleyball courts.

The Q then handed out sets of 4 cards to the pax from the F3 workout deck. The cards may have been preselected by the Q. Each man counted cadence like he was proud. We did that with 8 total cards, 4 experienced pax and 4 newer pax practiced. We them took a quick jailbreak to the flag.

BOM/COT – This was a different kinda COT. We talked about the importance of being the leaders who deserve to stand in front of the flag. Bookworm spoke about the importance of honoring all voices and making sure we don’t censor free speech like 1984. We talked about invigorating male community leadership. It was an enlightening time to consider what the 4th of July is all about.

Moleskin – Jocko Willink says this is not a big philosophical statement, but it resonated with me “Burpees are like life”. In fact it resonated to the point that todays workout is based on the fact that, like a burpee, in life you “fall down and get back up”. This was the first time YHC has been able to post at #Blastoff since the Corona shutdown. I owe Cousin It a huge thanks for keeping things rolling while I was focused on the inner part of my Concentrica. That was my falling down part. Being able to Zoom in with my ShieldLock was critical. Being able to do some HDT workouts via FaceTime kept me lifting heavy implements of woe. Connecting with my Shorties and spending time with them was some of the best time of that 34 day period of suck.
