YHC looked at the calendar (OK, I googled it) and saw that April 5 was the anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death and the birthday of Troy Gentry (of Montgomery Gentry- he would have been 54 today). Feeling reminiscent, YHC decided to reach into the backblasts and pull out the weinke from his VQ some time ago- updated and modified, of course, to add to the beatdown. YHC hoped that his announcement of a musical Q would attract more of the musically-monikered PAX (I’m looking at you, Bono), but…..

Circle Up/Welcome/Introduction

Warmup:

  • Pledge of Allegiance
  • Side Straddle Hops
  • Good mornings
  • Butt kickers
  • Hallelujahs (12 reps each)

The thang:

Went to the parking lot and Walk(ed) Like an Egyptian- form a single file line and lunge towards the picnic shelter. The person at the end of the line jailbreaks to the front. Rinse and repeat. We went through the line a couple of times.

Then, it was off to the picnic shelter for a little country music, the two-step: 11s with step-ups and dips in cadence.

Next, thanks to Skynyrd’s pick, it was off to the baseball field for the Circle of Life (although the Exicon calls it the “viscious circle”)- mosey around the bases single file while the last pax runs to the pitcher’s mound, does 5 of an exercise, and runs to the front of the line. Repeat until everyone’s done the exercise. Then repeat with another exercise- or 2, or 3, or- you get the idea. YHC’s original idea was to do BLIMPS, but we settled for Burpees, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, and Squats. No LP. Get it?

Then, we went to the wall for Balls To The Wall for a 10-count down the line and OPP (partnered up- one partner does overhead claps in the people’s chair while the partner does 10 plank jacks (2 is 1). Then switch. Then repeat with 15 and 20 plank jacks).

Then, we moseyed to the rock pile for some rock and roll- Curls for the girls, triceps extensions, bent-over rows, and squats, moving a few rocks to the right after each exercise.

We finished up with Mary, Mary (why you buggin’?)- flutter kicks (of course), WW1s, and Freddie Mercurys (good call, Bookworm) until 6:15.

COT: counterama, name-o-rama, prayer requests, took a knee and prayed out, and took a picture.

Thanks to all who posted.
