Bootcamp (QIC Abu):

WARMUP
Fire Drill – PAX in a circle, chopping feet or high knees. Each PAX calls out “Fire” all PAX hits the ground rolls right, merkin, roll back left, another merkin, then back up chopping. Go around the circle with the “stop, drop and roll” until all PAX have called “Fire.”

THE THANG
Mosey down to the bottom of the hill by the back entrance to Minges.

We stopped halfway for YHC to explain something to the PAX. I wanted to get us uncomfortable right from the start. Fire Drill got us all wet and itchy, which some didn’t like (myself included), but it was nothing compared to the discomfort felt by the victims of 9/11. We are blessed to only be wet and itchy. The mumblechatter stopped and we carried on to the bottom of the hill by the lower Minges parking lot.

Directions:
Race to the top of the hill
Perform 11 reps of each exercise IC
Mosey down

Moleskin: My intent was to plan a workout that was uncomfortable and difficult, one the PAX will NEVER FORGET. I think they got their monies worth. Thanks for coming out and choosing to bootcamp with me.

Run (QIC Ma Bell):

YHC doesn’t classify himself as a runner but I’ve been working on it so when Fruity Pebbles shoulder tapped me to lead the 9/11 run workout I considered it an honor. So YHC set it up to pay a little tribute to those on the front lines for 9/11 and now. The route would pass Greenville PD, Greenville Fire Department, Pitt County Sheriff’s office and ECU PD. We also would pay a little tribute to our brothers out running the Blue Ridge Relay with a trip up college hill (or two for some).

Route:
Run out of lower minges and turn right onto Charles
Follow Charles onto Reede Circle and turn Right.
Follow Reede and turn right onto 1st Street
Follow 1st street and turn right onto the opposite end of reede.
Follow Reede back to Charles and turn left
From Charles turn left onto 10th street
Follow 10th street and turn onto college Hill drive
At the top of college hill drive turn left onto 14th street
Follow 14th and turn right onto Ficklen Drive and arrive back at the stadium
The route didn’t go exactly as planned but pax got between 3 and 5 miles depending on pace.

Moleskin:

For 19 years #neverforget has been used in reference to the events surrounding 9/11/2001. The hashtag can frequently be a trigger for many to remember the negative…

Never forget…

The pain
The terror
The sadness
The darkness
The uncertainty
The selfishness
The anger
The evil
The loss
The division
The anxiety
The maliciousness
The helplessness

Today YHC reminded the PAX to let #neverforget fuel prosperity and cultivate positivity…

Never forget…

The unity
The comradery
The synergy
The kindness
The memories
The love
The tolerance
The perspective
The honor
The selflessness
The resiliency
The helpfulness
The determination

We can choose to see the dark or the light, the evil or the good, the hate or the love… choose wisely, men.

Candy Cane, out!
