It was a glorious, warm, no cloud in the sky kind of morning aboard the Black Pearl at Eagles Ridge… that’s a lie.  This morning was one of those times the ship was in rough seas with rain pouring everywhere and we were doing all that we could to stay afloat.  Yesterday, YHC was excited to lead another beatdown aboard the Black Pearl and was wondering how many PAX were going to show up.  To YHC’s surprise, this morning brought us cold and rainy weather and we knew it was going to be uncomfortable.  Oh well, it is when we push through discomfort that we find ourselves becoming stronger physically and mentally.  YHC, scouted the area, 0530 came about and so we did…

As excited as YHC was to lead a Black Pearl beatdown, YHC completely forgot to announce to everyone what the PAX just came aboard when they showed up.  Whoops.  At least it was announced at the end (thanks Rafiki).

WARM-UP

10 x SSH IC

10 x Merkins IC

10 x Squats IC

THE THANG

We moseyed to the Tennis Courts.  At each corner of the caged in court, we performed different exercises.  We also did a very fast jog in-between corners.  YHC wanted to do sprints but the court was too slick.  Richard Simmons suggested we did Bear Crawls in-between corners.  If YHC’s hand was 100%, YHC would have definitely taken him up on the challenge.  Maybe next time Richard Simmons.

Round 1:

Slow Count Cadence (One of YHC’s Favorite when Q’ing)

– Squats

– Froggers

– Single-Legged Lunges (Right then Left)

– Merkins

Round 2:

60 second exercise progressively getting harder every 20 seconds

– Squats (Fingers off the ground, finger tips touching the ground, knuckles touching the ground)

– American Hammers, Frog Kicks, In and Outs

– Jack Squats (Fingers off the ground, finger tips touching the ground, knuckles touching the ground)

– Werkins, Merkins, Ranger Merkins

We then moseyed to the stairs, the PAX partnered up, and we did a version of 200s.  The duo would complete 10 x rounds of 20 reps of an exercise (a total of 200, obviously).

Partner 1:  Ran to the top of the steps, performed 20 x Mountain Climbers (1 is 1), ran down the steps and back to Partner 2.

Partner 2:  Held plank/sphinx while waiting on Partner 1 to return.

We then moseyed back to the flag.

60 second isometric holds progressively getting harder every 20 seconds

– Squat (above 90 degrees, 90 degrees, below 90 degrees)

– V-Up (6-inches, chest and legs off the ground, full v-up)

– Single-Legged Lunge (Right then Left; same intensity as the Squat)

– Merkins (partial of the way down, half-way down, chest and hips just barely off the ground)

Then 3 x rounds of Mary.  0615.

Moleskin

Although this morning was not of ideal conditions, especially because we had such great weather last week, today’s beatdowns showed how the HIM’s of F3 can really push through obstacles in our lives.  All sites had a great turnout of HIMs.  It is easy to go to a site when it isn’t raining or it isn’t cold, but not every day is going to be easy.  YHC admits it, sometimes when conditions aren’t ideal then YHC will fartsack instead of pushing through with other HIM’s.  However, on some of those mornings, YHC feels worse for not going rather than if YHC would have just showed up.  Either way, YHC is always proud to be part of this group and always enjoys pushing through the tough times.  Thank you to the men of F3 for always staying awesome.  Hope everyone has a blessed day.
