A couple of weeks ago, YHC read over Cousin IT’s document about things to think about and do as a new Site Q.  One of the things that stood out to YHC was thinking of ways to make your new site unique.  YHC sat and pondered, for a while, on how to make a run only, track workout unique.  Does YHC add music, does YHC add a competition, does YHC somehow merge with other sites… YHC couldn’t come to a conclusion.  One day, while at work, YHC was looking over a whiteboard which had the names of the individuals on each shift and how much they produced.  It is a way to ensure we hold each other accountable while also cheering success on higher production days.  Then it hit YHC… Why not do the same thing at the Oval Office?  YHC went over the idea with the M and she thought it was a great idea… So YHC ran with it (no pun intended).  YHC put together a whiteboard which shows the PAX PRs for 400m, 800m and 1600m for hopes it will have the same effect on the site as it does at work.  The morning came, 0530 came about, and so…

WARMUP

2 x Laps

THE THANG

YHC tried to explain the idea as best as he could.  Two key things to remember:

  1. After every round there will be a 1 x Lap Cool-Down
  2. Remember 3, 2, 1

3 x Rounds of 400m

2 x Rounds of 800m

1 x Round of 1600m

The thought behind this idea was so we could set our 2020 running baselines and then place our times on the whiteboard… if we so choose.

Today was about setting the 2020 running baseline.  Whether you run a fast pace or just started running, seeing where you started in the beginning of the year and where you ended the year is always an eye opener… Good or bad.  We could always check each other’s Strava and give Kudos or leave a comment when someone beats their PR, but it is a much different feeling when you receive praise in person.  YHC’s hope is the site can fill up the entire whiteboard with PAX names and times so we can cheer our fellow men as they continue with their running journey.  As for today, the PAX continued to push themselves hard throughout the beatdown… Even though our lungs were hurting from the cold.  Great work today men!  The site continues to see new runners while also seeing progression of every runner who comes.  It was a fun morning at the Oval and I will see you all at the Office next week.  Have a blessed day.
