A couple of months ago, Abu Q’d at the Oval Office and had the PAX run 1 lap fast / 1 lap recovery, 2 laps fast / 1 lap recovery, 3 laps etc. etc. up until we did 4 laps fast and then made our way back down (3, 2, 1).  This was the beatdown Grammar still talks about to this day… YHC will allow him to explain what happened that fateful morning.  Anyways, this was one YHC’s favorite beatdowns.  YHC wanted to do something similar but decided to change things around.  Also, since most people continually make left turns on a track workout, YHC wanted to change this around as well.  So 0530 came, 10 PAX were ready to go, a disclaimer was given, the PAX were told we would be running around the track in a non-traditional way (making right turns), and then:

WARM-UP

2 Laps

Right at the end of the 2 warm up laps is when the 11th PAX showed up.  I am not going to say who it was but he ran up to the track light and swift like a small, African, antelope looking animal.

THE THANG

The PAX were reminded of Abu’s Q a few months ago and were told we were going to do the opposite while running in the opposite direction.  The goal was to complete as many laps as possible until it was 0615.

4 x Laps Fast / 1 x Lap Recovery

3 x Laps Fast / 1 x Lap Recovery

2 x Laps Fast / 1 x Lap Recovery

1 x Lap Fast / 1 x Lap Recovery

2 x Laps Fast / 1 x Lap Recovery

3 x Laps Fast / 1 x Lap Recovery

4 x Laps Fast / 1 x Lap Recovery

When the beatdown was explained to the PAX many commented and said it was like a Toilet Bowl.  There was also mumble chatter about if Strava would pick up on the segments or if new segments would be accomplished. YHC did not think of this before but was interested to see what Strava was going to say… It gave YHC only one segment that was accomplished.  Lesson learned.

As the PAX were running the Toilet Bowl, YHC could see that the PAX were doing a great job at pushing themselves.  YHC kept up with Gazelle during the first portion of the beatdown, but in the back of YHC’s mind he was wondering where Grammar was.  Midway through the beatdown Grammar caught up to YHC and Gazelle… Kudos.

As 0615 was approaching, all of the PAX picked up their pace and pushed it to the end… Kudos to everyone.  As the PAX were running back, Stern made a comment that there’s a Floater in the Toilet Bowl.  It was funny to YHC and it obviously had to be the name of the backblast.

The PAX then ran back to the flag.

MOLESKIN

About a month ago Footloose reached out to YHC and asked if YHC would be willing to take over as the next Site Q.  Excited and willing, YHC’s only concern was about his work schedule.  Footloose reassured YHC and explained some ideas that would allow YHC to still be successful even if YHC could only be at the Site every other week.  After speaking with Footloose a few more times, YHC decided he would be willing to take the helm.  Leading up to this Q, Footloose announced that the person Q’ing for today would be the next Site Q.  Before the beatdown, during the beatdown, and even after the beatdown YHC was greeted with praise and applause.  For that, I thank every one of you for the praise.

Footloose, thank you very much for your guidance and mentorship.  You have done an excellent job as the Site Q and it definitely shows with the number of PAX who continue to come to the Oval Office.  The Oval Office can be one of the hardest beatdowns and a great time to help push other PAX because you are always close to your fellow man.  Your leadership has helped push many PAX to faster speeds and pushed them to limits they may have not thought possible.  I aspire to help others just as you did and I will try my best as the new Site Q.

I hope everyone has a blessed day.
