Today was YHC’s return to the gloom. I am thankful for the brothers who reached out in my absence to check on me. It means a lot. Thanks.
I took some time off after Christmas and for the month of January to work on some spiritual disciplines I was weak in and to spend some time wrestling with God about what I think He is calling me to do.
It’s not easy to submit yourself, especially when you’re a guy who doesn’t want to be told what to do.
I guess that’s true with anything in life. It’s not easy to wake up and workout at 515 am either (or 440). But you do it anyways, why? Because you want to be better. Not for the praise or admiration of others, you want to be better because you’re a man, you know you need it, and so many other people depend on you. So be the best you can be. Beat the fartsack and work out. Wake up 30 minutes early and pray/worship. Read a dang book and develop yourself. the mantra, ‘choose the harder thing’ comes to mind. Why? because anyone can meet the standard, but we are called to be men who exceed the standard. Now go do something about it.
