With only 3 full days left before the “12 Days of Christmas” CSAUP, we got in a practice run.  As YHC arrived, a studly group of PAX were rucking by on their way to #LC105.  Goggles, LD, and Gopher were also already there… they couldn’t help themselves and started early with a “6-pack” set of core exercises beforehand just for fun.  YHC joined in and quickly discovered why those exercises are called “6-Packs.”  When Viking showed up in shorts and no-sleeves, it was time to start!

THE THANG

Saturday’s CSAUP will have several rounds of exercises with 1.5-mile runs in between.  This morning, we ran 1.5 miles to the lawn area of St. Mary’s Church where there were 10 cones spaced out 10 paces down the length of the field.  At each cone, we did 5x Up-Downs, then moseyed back to the starting point.  Second time through, we did 5x squats.  Because we were running out of time, the third time through, we skipped every other cone and did 5x Row-the-Boats.  Then, we ran another 1.5  miles back to the SplashinWoodies AO.

Here is the route:

From Fairfield Park, headed North on Greenbrier, R on Perry Park, L on Pollock, L on Highland, L on Bond — STOP ON WEST LAWN OF ST. MARY’S — West on Rountree, R on West, L on Cameron, L on Carey, R on Woodberry, L on Greenbrier, — END AT FAIRFIELD PARK —

COT

We prayed for Oxy, Gopher’s friend who had a miscarriage, our community (for a stop to crime and our first responders), for the health of PAX who will be participating in the CSAUP, for Forrest’s dad dealing with shingles, for all students and teachers heading into exam time, and a prayer of thanksgiving for Viking’s brother who had successful surgery.

MOLESKIN

Always a blessing to be with the PAX in the gloom!  The sub-freezing temps didn’t get in the way of a great workout.  Upbeat and encouraging  mumblechatter throughout.  As we passed Westminster Church (twice), there was some fun brainstorming about a potential longer run/CSAUP incorporating a Tour de Churches throughout the city.  Truth Hurts shared a good word from Charles Spurgeon: “The way you view God will eventually show up in the way you live your life.”  Grateful to start the day with these PAX who push the body and offer strong encouragement in the life of faith.
