Q began by introducing himself and advising everyone that he was in no way a professional and this was his VQ.  PAX were advised to listen to their body and to modify as needed.  Q continued by explaining that today’s workout would be a remembrance of 9/11 and that on a Tuesday morning 17 years ago there were 4 coordinated attacks on the US.  2,996 people were killed and over 6,000 injured on that day.  Others died of cancer in the years to follow.  Q admitted that in the crazy busy world we live in, its easy to forget just how bad that day was.  Today’s workout will be a reminder.  Q explained that all exercises will be done in a 9 or 11 count, all would be performed under an American flag at various locations throughout the town, and all PAX would stay together as a group.  Barney Fife got a shout-out for showing up in his red, white, and blue shorts.

Warmup: 9 Sun Gods IC, 11 Side Straddle Hops IC, 9 Tappy-Taps

The Thang: Mosey to Municipal Building for first stop.  Before beginning, Q explained that PAX would stop at each residence or business along the way that had an American flag flying for 9 burpees and 11 squats.    Mosey began.  PAX found 2 American flags flying on E. Main Street so 2 sets of 9 burpees and 11 squats on the way to the Municipal Building.

Municipal Building – box jump curb along front of building, 9 jump steps to top, 11 sit-ups, 9 jump steps back down, and box jump curb along front of building.  A PAX called out Q for 9 burpees and 11 squats under the American flag (Q had not planned burpees and squats at workout locations, but PAX obliged).  9 burpees and 11 squats before leaving.

Mosey to Washington Fire/Rescue/EMS Department.  PAX encountered flag at business along the way so 9 burpees and 11 squats.  At FD, PAX lined up in single file with space in between and assumed plank position.  Last PAX began by bear crawling in a weave pattern between planking PAX until at the beginning of the line.  This continued until all PAX had a chance to bear crawl.  (burpees and squats were not requested by any PAX at this station, nor any others moving forward).

Mosey to Courthouse for DIMS.  Q explained that they would do 3 sets of 3 declined merkins, 3 inclined merkins, 3 merkins, and 3 squats. On 3rd set, 2 EC incline merkins and squats.  Q explained that when complete, PAX would have completed 9 declined merkins, 11 inclined merkins, 9 merkins, & 11 squats.

Mosey to Police Department.  PAX performed 9 alligator merkins.

Mosey to Post Office.  PAX began crabwalking across the parking lot from the flag.  At middle parking stalls, PAX performed 9 crab cakes, then continued to crabwalk to the other side where they performed 11 more crab cakes.

Mosey to American flag on waterfront (w/ slight detour along Van Norden St.).  PAX encountered 2 more residences with flags, so 2 more sets of 9 burpees and 11 squats.  At the waterfront, PAX did 9 Weezy Jeffersons and 11 situps.

Mosey back to the shovel flags.  PAX tallied a total of 1.8 miles during workout.

Prayers – Safety for everyone during incoming Hurricane Florence, continued prayers for Flo’s daughter with a praise that she has shown some recent improvement, continued prayers for several other PAX’s 2.0s that had been mentioned in previous COTs, .
