After Qing The Rush last week I figured I was in the clear for a bit. However, Shake and Bake asked me to fill in for Grammar who was unable to Q. It was last minute, so I had to put together a quick winkie. I jumped on Garmin Connect and started mapping out a route that wasn’t so easy to follow with directions from YHC. While I could have easily made a simple out and back or loop course, that would have been too easy and I wanted to keep the Pax on their toes, literally.

The Thang

Thirteen Pax showed up for a frosty 32 degree run through the hood. YHC quickly gave the disclaimer and we took off down Ange St. towards Main St. Tonka led the way as he had already logged some EC and was feeling the warm blood coursing through his veins. I called out the turns as best I could while trying to keep pace in front of the other Pax. I loaded the course on my watch but it was going crazy before we started and I don’t think it properly registered. It did show the breadcrumbs so I was able to at least make sure we stayed on course. I also was using my phone to have an overview of the route and at least try to call out the turns or street names in advance for the faster Pax. Tonka kept me on my toes while Matlock and I paced each other. We went back for the six at stop signs when necessary.

After making our rounds through the neighborhood behind the post office, we headed back to Main St. toward Gayle Blvd. We made our paces down Rosewood Dr. to Primrose Ln. After looping around Cresset Dr. and picking up the six, there was about 6 minutes to make it back to the flag. Right on time. We arrived back in the parking lot a little ahead of schedule so the Pax made some rounds to get that 5 miles in. Everyone got a good run in and we all felt better after getting our hearts pumping.
