MaBell shoulder tapped YHC a few weeks ago to Q at The SchoolYard.  I moved to Greenville in early August and knew that my time would come, so when it did, I was ready to jump on the opportunity. It wasn’t my first Q, but my first in Pitt.  Originally schedule for the 10th, unexpected travel had me postpone to the 17th.  Going to bed the night before my M said there was going to be rain the morning and wonder if it would impact the turn out.  She asked what I would do if I was the only one to show up.  I said… I would do the workout, post a pic and call shame on the Pax.  Not to my surprise Pax showed up.  Patch doing his normal EC. Cold Cut exploring the football field. Then Matlock and IT showed up, I got to run with them the day before at The Summit. Then the others trickled in (including Jock Itch) and to my great surprise two Pax from L’Dub showed up – Enron and Cornhole – thanks guys!

This is how things went down.

Warm up:

Starting slow with Good Mornings and Don Qs, and then increasing the tempo with SSH, High Knees and Butt Kickers to get the heart rate up  20 each.   Closed out with 2 burpees.

The Thang:

We then moved over to the front of the school to use the benches for some upper body work with Derkins, Dips and Merkins OYO  25 each, rinse and repeat 2x.  Stretching the legs out in preparation for some lower body work, we ran a lap around the school to end up at the front street that has a nice row of trees for some Route 66. I was introduced to this by  HawgCycle in Chicago last year.  11 trees – lung walk tree to tree and adding a squat at each tree. Tree #1 = 1 squat, Tree #2 = 2 squat, so on and so forth up to Tree #11= 11 squats for a total of 66 squats.   At this time we were blessed with precipitation, starting off slow but then being  rather steady. – No we don’t stop for the rain!!!

Mosey to the church parking lot across the street to introduce the GVille pax to the Conch Crawl. A sequence of crab walk, merkins and crawl bear.  Crab walk 10 paces, flip to 3 merkins, crawl bear 10 paces, flip to crab walk, for a distance of about 60 feet.  Once all pax in – 5 burpees.   Rinse and repeat in opposite direction.   In reflection the distance was too short which is part of the challenge at Q’ing at a new AO.  The Conch Crawl in the past has been most effective as a continuous motion, no breaks, for 300′ minimum.   You feel the burn and want to quit.   Next time— watch out.

Mosey back to school parking lot for some sprint work.  Sprint ~25 yards, do 25 Imperial Walkers, sprint back do 25 LBCs. Rinse and repeat 2x.  Added in 25 yrds of broad jumps for extra measure.

Mosey back around the school for a cool down lap stopping for some People’s Chair and Balls to the Wall to close out the legs and upper body.

With 10 mins left back to the flag for some Mary – circle of love with Pax leading.  We made it about half way around, ending with Cold Cut’s protractor.

Closing:  Countorama – 11 pax Namaorama –Prayers

Prayers for injured Pax and those dealing with upcoming medical proceedures.

F3 is certainly something special. Where else can you count on a bunch of guys to show up on a dark and rainy morning to push themselves and you to be better.  Not to mentioned guys from your former hometown coming over to post to show their support.  And then to close it out lifting those with needs up in prayer and sharing praises and encouragement.  Why would you willingly miss out on something like this?  This is the path to being a HIM!

Conch Fritter – out!
