Toe socks.  Nothing else really needs to be said about this morning’s ruck other than toe socks.

Our black op, “Ruckin Into the Night” rallied at 0300 in the parking lot of Oceananna with some close to freezing temperatures, Flip’s coupons, and F3 brothers from three different regions.  The hijinks started pretty early as Nipple Shot had to drop trawl behind the Pier House to deal with a little AI situation, only to realize depants’d that he was right in front of their security camera.  He did in fact smile and wave.  Sorry, MeeMee.  Bundled up and maybe even a little giddy, YHC welcomed and disclaimed the PAX.  I’m not sure how a disclaimer works when you’ll basically be working out in 1/5 of the county but at least we tried.

Leg 1 (3.1 miles)- we ruck from Oceananna west down the beach to the Double Tree at a pretty decent clip.  Flip graciously provided our intrepid ruckers with two duffle bags filled with sand to carry.  We were 4 minutes into the walk when Gertrude starts yelling at the rear to turn off the head lamps because we were ruining his view of the night sky.  Ironically, Gert then injures himself trying to mount the coupon on his shoulders soon there after.  We stop every .75 miles for some fun and excitement.

Stop 1:  20 merkins SC, 15 Low slow flutters IC, 15 copper head squats, 25 yard bear crawl

Stop 2:  15 merkins SC, 15 copperhead squats, each man performs a high plank hold as each member performs 5 merkins in a line

Stop 3:  15 merkins SC, 15 copperhead squats, 15 low slow flutter, 25 yard bear crawl in the soft sand

Last leg walked in the soft sand to Stop 4:  10 partner get ups

Brief respite on the deck at Molly’s.  Before leaving Tater gets caught on DoubleTree security hanging a line from the pier while yelling “I’m a grow’er, not a show’er.”  You should probably sense a theme here.

Leg 2 (4.8 miles)- we ruck from the DoubleTree to Shevan’s Park along the sidewalks and roads of AB keeping the guys carrying the coupons in the front of the column to set the pace.

Stop at the Coral Bay Club, we told them Jang said it was OK.  15 merkins, 15 low slow flutters, 15 pack curls, and 15 over head pack presses.

Stop in the Beach Tavern parking lot.  15 merkins, 15 squats, and each man performs a high plank hold in a line as each member performs a 5ct low plank hold.  At this point we learn that Tater and Goose are rucking with 60 & 70 pounds.  T-MF’n Claps.

It’s also at about this point that your boy starts to realize that maybe he still has some sand in his shoes?  I’ll be fine.

We huff it to the base of the bridge and that’s when the coupons say goodnight.  Brief hold up at the the little parking lot for hydration, pack adjustment, and everyone to try and eat frozen protein bars.  YHC thinks about taking off his socks and shaking the sand out, but it’s not that bad.  I should be ok.

In case you were wondering, yes, multiple persons were caught on tape in the little parking lot pee’in in the bushes.

Up and over, up and over.  Little windy on the ole girl this morning.  Pretty chilly.  And we almost got hit by two cars.  On the way down the bridge I realize its official, I have blisters.  I relay this information to Steamer and I get back you should wear these toe socks, I feel amazing.  Thanks man.

Towards the bottom of the bridge as we cross lanes, Tater asks how I’m holding up.  I tell him about the blisters.  He tells me about these toe sock liners and how they prevent blisters.  I may have to look into those things.

As we are rolling down Evans towards the park, Mr Roboto and Deuce are cruising.  We discuss good posture, 88 year old attorneys, and blisters.  Deuce tells us about these toe socks he heard about from Lassie.

We finally roll into the tennis courts at Shevan’s for a little table setter action.  We take off the packs and line up on the sideline.  Jog down and back, high knees down, butt kickers back.  Lateral slides down and back.  Cotton pickers, Windmills, Sun Gods, and then put the packs back on for the last drive.

We leave Shevans and head to the cutting board for a quick break for food and hydration.  Big Mic hangs back with YHC and notices the distressed strides.  How are the feet Duck?  Blisters holmes.  And then sure enough he tells me about these toe sock liners.  We depack at the cutting board and we have an apparent shark sighting.  At this point, we all know whats left.

Leg 3 (3.5 miles) from the cutting board back to the Oceananna.  The mumblechatter definitely was gone on this last leg.  Or at least I think it was.  I was in the rear, living life 100 yards at a time.  But I will say this, the view from the top of the bridge made it all right.  Wow.  We live in a postcard.

The PAX rallies at the entrance to the Oceananna parking lot and we roll in together, arriving at 7:04 am.  We traveled 12.4 miles in 4:04.

Sincerest of thanks to all the guys who travelled down to come play with us.  Your insight and advice are invaluable.  Thanks to Gert and Steamer for helping organize and plan this thing.  Thanks to Jack Rabbit for alerting the AB constables that we would rolling through the streets.

Big Mic took us out in a standing Ball of Man, probably because we wouldn’t have been able to get back up.

FlipOva rolled out early and actually double posted at the Hero Patriot.  Strong!

12 of us descended on The Banks Grill and did serious work.  Lassie may be part Elf.  And I ordered some toe socks in the car on the way to breakfast.

Faithfully submitted
