Well today was a special day as we normally don’t do a workout on Monday but instead do a bible study in the morning. After a planning meeting by the leadership group we decided that we needed to reach out to the local newspaper to try to get the word out about our group and try to spur some homegrown growth in the PAX. I reached out to a contact with the newspaper and he had actually heard of us and was intrigued.  He was thinking about finding out more information on us for a possible article and now we have opened that door for him. After I was able to secure him I let the leadership know and Conch Fritter stated that he had to do the workout as part of the condition for the article, which he agreed. We had another special guest to accompany him today and that was his publisher for the paper, brought to us courtesy of Largemouth (TClaps).

As we circled up YHC read off the disclaimer for the FNGs so that they knew what they were getting into. We warmed up with some simple SSH, Good Mornings, and a new warm up for the PAX some Annie’s (plank position and perform arm circles like you are cleaning the floor). After the warm up I figured it would be best since we had two newspaper gents that we would head to there parking lot to perform some Boo-Yahs. We partnered up and each partner performed a merkin in sequence and at its completion shoulder taped your partners opposing shoulders. To make things interesting I added a sprint in between each rep to get the heart pumping. After several reps we made our way to the beautiful waterfront to get our second helping of the beat down. Next we did 4 rounds of Aiken Legs while looking out into the tranquil waterfront, 20 squats, 20 box jumps, 20 lunges, and 20 smurf jacks. At this point the legs were screaming and the mumble chatter was beginning. After a short walk to the waterfront walkway we began our next phase of the workout by hitting every third light pole with a set of 5 merkins approx 50 or so were done. By now we were back at festival park and it was time to get one last group exercise in to see how we would work together as a group. Bridge of hate. Each PAX laid down on their 6 shoulder to shoulder in a line pointing to the shovel flags. Mission to take a 60lb sand bag and pass it from one PAX to the other without dropping it. Once the bag was passed each PAX member had to sprint to the other side of the line to keep the line moving. It took a while to get started but man once this group got going the line was really moving and if you were not in position the bag was coming right for your head. We circled back up at the shovel flags for a few minutes of Mary beginning with some Captain Thor’s, Flutter kicks, shoulder taps, chil-cuts, and finally 5 burpees for good measure.

We welcomed two new PAX to the group Ashley Vansant, the Washington Daily News publisher, now named Big Al. Ashley went to Auburn Univsity and it wa s only fitting that he be named after the Alabama mascot. Next we welcomed in Sean Finnerty, the sports director for the news paper. Now Sean will be named Tebow since he went to school at Florida State during the time of the Tebow dominance. Lastly welcome to Washington Psycho, brother we hope that you enjoyed your stay and please come back anytime.

Lots of prayer requests today and a announcement that all Tuesday workouts are now being moved to the Waterfront.
