Two Turtle Doves

Q’ing the Day after Christmas with freezing temperatures caused this Q concern as to how many would post. Twitter-feed was dead silent.  Texted Flo to see if he was posting, got an affirmative.  I knew at least there would be two of us.  Time to build the workout.  Flo felt something “easy and light would be perfect” to ease into the 2nd Day of Christmas.  I knew what was in my stomach from the feast the night before and tended to agree.

Pulled into the Landing strip and faithful Duct Tape was in his car listening to pre-game music. Then Flo arrive, then Duce and Gaylord and Swiper!!! We had our Crew!  We gathered at the flag. Watched a few headlights and waited to see if they were other brothers joining but not this morning.

5:15 Circle up. All PAX were vets so disclaimer was simple. YHC did highlight that it was the 2nd day of Christmas as asked what name that is in the song. Pax responded with 2 Turtle Doves.  The order was that during the entire workout anyone could (and should) call out 2 Turtle Doves and we would have an assigned exercise – which Flo called out Peter Parker Pushups coming off of Bullseyes 12 Day of Christmas massacre a few days before.   So be it “2 Turtle Doves = 2 Peter Parker Pushups”.  YHC had Burpees in mind but PPP would be just as effective.

Warm up:

25 Don Quixote., 25 High Knees, 25 Butt Kickers  with a sprinkling of 2 Turtle Doves (Pax jumped quickly on the fun).

The Thang:

Mosey out to Market Street and down sidewalk for an out and back Jog.  We encountered a lot of Turtle Doves.

Back on driveway by Soccer parking lot we encountered Happy Jacks 5 SSH – 2 Jump Squats x 10.

At one point Duce was pretty sick of Turtle Doves. Some great groaning and mumble chatter from Pax

Mosey to Soccer field bleachers for 40’s (not that kind you drink).  Like 11’s but combined count of 40- Started with 30 dips, sprint to goal and back to do 10 Derkins. We worked our way down to 10 dips and 30 Derkins.  Oh more Turtle Doves flying.

With 5 minutes left, mosey back to circle for some Mary. Encountered some more Turtle Doves on the way.  Time only permitted 40 LBCs at the circle.  With one last Christmas surprise, Duce who hated Doves, called out 2 Turtle Doves for good measure!!

Circle up, Countarama, Namarma announcements and pray requests (Speedo and Joe Taylor for recovery. Christmas season to experience the greatest gift of all safe travels for all).

While I was certain I was going to be alone at 5:00 on the day after Christmas in the dark cold gloom, I shouldn’t have been surprised that you can count on your brothers. It was a blessing to know that you are not alone!  Another highlight was how mumble chatter around 2 Turtle Doves turned to laughter. This laughter represented embracing the suck!  With your brothers you can get through anything!  Merry Christmas to all!!
