These men showed up and worked like animals this morning! YHC is honored to have had the privilege of serving as pinch Q for this group! We started with the welcome & disclaimer and moved right in to a warm-up plank while we discussed the theme of today’s beatdown, The Shield of Honor. This shield has 3 points, Service (which is rooted in self-sacrificial love), Strength (which includes body, mind, and spirit so we are prepared for whatever comes our way), and Integrity (the toughness that compels us to do the right thing even when it is the difficult or uncomfortable thing). Then we started working on it:

Shield Point #1 – We lined up (safe distancing) along the chain link fence. We completed reps of the listed exercises in descending sets: 30, 25, 20,15,10 = 100 total reps of each exercise. Between each exercise, we travelled to the opposite fence with a variety of modes including bear crawl, side shuffle, back pedal, karaoke.

Merkin – starting from Merkin Hold position, on my Up

Imperial Walker – IC

Squat – starting from Squat Hold position, on my Up

Freddie Mercury (slow & meaningfully, legs fully extended & low to the ground) – IC

Then we mosied to the picnic shelter for Shield Point #2 – We completed reps of the listed exercises in descending sets: 30, 25, 20,15,10 = 100 total reps of each exercise

Derkin – on my up (pre-planned modification is Irkin, but only just before muscle failure so no one gives up too early, but no one collapses on their face on the concrete!)

Step-Ups – IC

Dips – on my up

Alternating Lunges – Civilian count

Shield Point #3 – YHC asked the PAX the Integrity question: had they each given all they had and their answer was YES! YHC mosied around the shelter giving each warrior a distanced fist bump to show my admiration! Then we mosied back to the shovelflag for cooldown.

Alternating Shoulder Taps – 15 IC

Good Mornings, slow & focused on a tight core – 15 IC

Flutter Kicks – 15 IC

Total Rep Count this morning = 845, just under 19 per minute average for 45 minutes

Counterama, Namerama, prayer concerns included Phoenix’s relative who lost children in a car crash, Eric Sowers battling cancer, Waterboy and Lt Dan’s families dealing with covid and/or quarantine, Fireant recovering from strep throat, others everywhere dealing with or simply afraid of Covid, and that we all become stronger men, husbands, fathers, and leaders.

Moleskin – From the word, “Welcome,” these men were ready for it this morning. They knew before they came that the ground was wet and the air was cold. They had decided to take the DRP. YHC is honored to be accepted among such a group of men! Iron sharpens Iron, and these men we already carrying the Shield of Honor. The workout YHC brought simply revealed they already had it!
