Before we start here, kudos to our Expansion Q Mayhem for getting this thing rolling in Washington. Those River Rats don’t know how good of a set up they have. An absolutely gorgeous morning on the waterfront in our neighboring town to the east. YHC picked up Hometown at 05:48 and headed to Lowe’s, met Joker and Bambino and 2 clown cars pulled out headed down east. Pulled up, saw the gazebo (starting point), took a gander around downtown Washington, saw the layout, workout was set and the plan was in motion. Lots of familiar Pax was hanging out around the flag around 6:45. Mayhem and Charlie Brown (RESPECT) had some serious banter regarding ECU Pirates and NC State Wulfpuppies, both of which are now 0-1. Charlie Brown was impressed to see ECU had a football team still, Mayhem was impressed Charlie Brown showed up to workout instead of eating lunch, yada yada yada, you get the point. A few Washington repeaters showed up from last week, a few new faces, they quickly learned they were now FNGs, pleasantries were exchanged amongst all men there, we circled up and the workout began.

The Thang

Follow me. We moseyed down the street to a near by park right along the waterfront. This park has tons of potential; shelter with picnic tables, playground equipment with a soft rubbery surface for your six, lots of flat land and a parking lot. We completed some plank-o-rama waiting for Charlie Brown and Shrimp who graciously agreed to sweep with the six. Quite a bit of #mumblechatter ensued as Underdog kept calling a chillcut plank on the concrete. He wanted his money’s worth after missing a few weeks with his 2.0 this summer and their run to Williamsport. Called for a 10 count, Hot Pursuit was nice enough to give us a solid, slow count.

4 Corners. 10 Merkins, 20 American Hammers, 20 Squats, sprint to far corner. We did this at 4 stops in the parking lot, waiting for the six with Planks, 6 inches, Al Gore and People’s chair along the fence. YHC wanted to show the Washington Pax how to keep the Pax together and still working at the same time. We completed this, Shrimp gave us a 20 count, although he skipped the odd numbers. We kept pace and moseyed across the bridge into Washington Park. With the Pamlico River to our right, this was a quite a scenic short mosey around the bridge.

Here was introduced Dora 123. Simple concept, serious results. Explained to newcomers, partnered up, started the beatdown.

  • 100 Plank Jacks
  • 200 Mountain Climbers
  • 300 LBCs

It was here quite a few cars passed us coming out of the neighborhood and the 25 sweaty #HIM got quite a few looks from the natives. One sweet lady even walked by, said her good mornings to us, then said “yall look weird”, how can you get a better complement than that? What’s weird about 25 men doing mountain climbers in the street at 7:35 am while cheering each other on? Anyway, we ended and started our mosey back to the flag.

The pax was spread out, lots of men ran along with others, some finished sooner and went back for the six, and at 8:00 on the dot, each Pax member was back surrounding the flag. All drenched from sweat, even Charlie Brown, all all engaged with other Pax, and all better off than they were an hour before.

Moleskin

This site is going to flourish, no doubt about it. The men there are strong. They’ve bought in. They’ve drank the kool aid. The F3ENC Pax members have shed the light on them and the River Rats of Washington are running with it. Such a great morning. Many great men of eastern NC converged on the Washington Waterfront and left it better than they found it. It’s always good to post with your brothers in the gloom but having the ability to share that with others is something extremely special. YHC is good friends with FNG Large Mouth and has been explaining F3 to him for a while. When YHC learned it would expand down east, YHC immediately reached out to Large Mouth and told him. We ran together the last leg on Saturday from Washington Park back to the flag and hearing his praise for his first experience in F3 was worth the morning. The Give2Give campaign and F3 expansion is something special, I’m just glad I was able to be a small part of this past week’s growing. If you haven’t ventured down east yet on a Saturday morning, YHC asks you to seriously consider it, you won’t regret it.

Skipper, OUT!
