Everytime I have the opportunity to Q it is always a challenge to come up with a new and exciting workout that is fun and different but challenges you in different ways.  In trying to come up with something different I kept thinking back to all of the workouts I have attended over the past year and one thing that everyone really loves to hate…The Burpee.  I thought about how cool it would be to center a workout around the burpee.  Everybody loves them, everybody hates them.   I decided to put a little different spin on it.  We would breakdown (or deconstruct) the burpee and center the workout on the different exercises the makeup the burpee.

The clock struck 7:00am and the 11 PAX circled up for the “Burpee Breakdown”.

Warmup

-SSH

-Squats

-Merkins

-Good Mornings

Mosey to Gaylord’s ledge for some pullups

-Partner up, 2 sets of 10 for each partner

Duckwalk to the Boardwalk

-12 lightpoles, 1 burpee at each with a sprint to the next pole

Arrive at the Gazebo

-30 dips, 10 Pistol Squats each leg

Mosey to Stewart Parkway (here is where we breakdown the burpee)

-Squats, Leg Thrusts, Merkins, Jump Squats

-10 poles, start at first pole and perform 10 of each of the 4 burpee exercises

  • Progress down by one at each pole, 9..8..7..6..5..4..3..2..1

Mosey to Courthouse (Partner up)

-Dora – 100 Diamond Merkins, 200 Squats, 300 Mountain Climbers while partner runs Courthouse stairs, 10 SSH and back

Mosey back to Waterfront for a short dose of Mary.

-Each time of have the opportunity to Q I make it a personal challenge to keep things interesting and have the PAX challenge themselves mentally and physically.  We all have times that we need to be able to push through and overcome trials and tribulations and I believe this helps build us to where we can handle those things in our lives better.
