So Noonan messaged me yesterday about being the Q at First Aid. I figured, why not, I’ll be your Huckleberry. Thus today’s workout has a theme – Tombstone, just not the cemetery kind. 10 studs showed up to get some.

Warm-up: When the Qs name is Bono, be prepared for the unexpected. After a brief follow me, we circled up for an extended CoP, Circle of Pain for you new guys.  We did 3 classic exercises: SHH, Merkins, Squats. Each set of 3 exercises was repeated 3 times. Each set the reps were increased so we finished stronger than we started.

The Thang: After about 20 min, we needed to change thing up. The playground at Elmhurst has been a commonly used apparatus, so YHC figured, let’s continue a cool thing. The first thing a gunfighter needs to master is his own battle within himself. We started with a pull-up competition. 1/2 the group maxed out pull-ups, calling out reps in 5s and then when you were out. This was to create accountability. Then the next group did the same. Then it was time to rinse and repeat with only one goal, do more than you did the first round. Then we moseyed back to where we started.

It was time for a Burpee Gun Fight. Men were randomly paired along a line, back to back like an old Wild West gun fight. On the call from Man Child, each pair rain to the end of the parking spot from each other like in Tombstone and completed 10 full burpees with a clap. No clap=no Burpee. There were two areas, winners bracket and losers bracket. The winners faced each other and the losers faced each other. We kept going until there was a single survivor. Noonan and Whistle were fast. Noonan was faster.

Then we moseyed to the Murphy Meadow, because nice grass is, well nice. We did a quick set of 7s with squats and single-leg lunges.  We finished up with some Mary, because Mary is cool and everyone dreams of abs like Grout and Abu have. All was done without putting down your legs: flutter kicks, heels to heaven, and Dollys.

COT/BOM: Prayers for all those traveling and those dealing with cancer.

Announcements: Lots of Rucking going on. Pay attention to the announcements.

Moleskin: Today was a beatdown. It was simple to stand in a circle and do three exercises – doing them three times makes it interesting. It was simple to do pull-ups, it was interesting to beat your own personal record. There are many times that my only goal is to beat myself. It’s men like those who posted today, who make me stronger and want to push harder. Men like Cousteau, who stayed with me every rep during EC. Men like Whistle who beat me at my own burpee gun fight. Men like Noonan who modified his form to meet the standard and win that fight. Men like Minnesota Fats who kept the pax honest holding plank, he took the lead. Men like Glow Worm and Italian Stallion, who are quiet until its time to get the hard work done. Men like Slim Jim, who is the most consistent dude out there and if I’m half the hunk he is at double-respect, I will be happy. Men like Bambino who got to EC early and push hard, never giving in. And young men like Man Child, who know has new stories to tell his classmates about how cool those pull-up bars are…
