The idea here is to push yourself to preform as an individual to help your team. When you don’t know how fast the other guys are running it’s you against you, until someone else whoops you because you were slacking. We had 9 studs post at The Sandlot. Here’s how it went down.

The route started at the District park sign. Numbered cards were placed there.

The route was a dogleg rectangle. We started on Ange St and followed the dogleg to Main, took a quick left, then right on Jones. We followed Jones to the end and took a left on Worthington. We took a left on the far side of Railroad St and went to the end of that to Sylvania and back to the park.

Each man picked a numbered card to note his finish place. Then went to get the six. Once everyone was finished, we divided into odds and evens based on the finish.

Each team had to then race the same route in opposite directions. The goal was the beat the numbers ahead of you while having your team finish first. The evens had the first pair finish with Gazelle and Half-Pipe finishing the last lap in a 6:10 pace. That was a 2 mile PR for Half-Pipe. The odds finished first as a whole team with Shake and Bake and Grammar leading the tram but resting on their laurels to finish at a 6:15 pace.

COT – Praise for Half-Pipe and his new job. Prayers for Angus’ (Jeff Bells) sister who passed away and her family.

Moleskin – Generally, YHC thinks running is stupid. I mean why just run for no reason with no weight. Slowly, however, running has become part of my life. Maybe it’s because I’m stupid or that I just like to do stupid things. If it wasn’t for the guys I’ve been running with over the last 5+ years there would be no reason to run. Maybe that’s why I run.

Today was a chance to make running fun. The idea was to make a loop for fun and then make a loop to race. What was interesting is that when faced with a challenge, are you able to push yourself or do you let another man run right past you. Today was fun. It was different. I actually liked running today.
