YHC was excited about thinking through the first session in the Radical small group study.  The Radical book and author’s presentation of underlying scriptures are sort of “poke-you-in-the-eye” in terms of forcing participants to look at some scriptures and teachings of Jesus related to discipleship and Christ-following.  It is going to be a challenging series.  Shovelflag was planted in the front yard, PAX rolled in and we were off like a dirty shirt.

Disclaimer:  No FNG present.  YHC is not a theologian or seminary trained pastor.  Lay ministry with PAX proceeding at their own individual pace on their spiritual fitness journeys.

Warm Up:  Brief introduction of material, but video segments are longer so we jumped right in.

The Thang:

  • Watched session 1 (abandonment)
  • Considered aspects of the main two scripture references.
  • YHC facilitated discussion questions – great interaction by the PAX

BOT – Prayer requests (multiple)

Moleskin:

Matthew 10:37-38 English Standard Version (ESV)

37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

Matthew 22:37-40 English Standard Version (ESV)

37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
