Since YHC officially took the reigns as site Q over at 116 the beginning of this month, I thought I should lead by example and Q this first Saturday of the month. Looking at the calendar, I saw it was Cinco de Mayo so YHC was going to have fun with this workout. 6:30am and there were 4 PAX ready to join the fiesta. After a quick disclaimer, YHC let the PAX know that instead of drinking margaritas and eating tacos this morning, we would be celebrating “Cinco de Burpees,” where each time YHC yelled “ole” PAX would stop immediately and perform 5 burpees. After some quick mumblechatter, we were off and it went a little something like this…

Warm Up (Cinco exercises):

SSH IC x11

Good Mornings IC x11

Sun Gods IC x5 front small circles x5 front large circles x5 back small circles x5 back large circles

Butt Kickers IC x11

Mountain Climbers IC x11

The Thang:

Started off with a nice mosey through the surrounding neighborhood. The plan was to yell “ole” at each street sign we came across. This totaled 30 burpees.

After the mosey/burpee fest, we partnered up for some people’s chair and balls to the wall. One parter started off with People’s Chair while the other partner ran to the shovel flag and back. Partners would flapjack then they moved on to Balls to the Wall. Rinse and repeat until each partner performed you guessed it… 5 of each exercise. And to celebrate the completion of this exercise, YHC let out an “ole” so 5 more burpees!

Moseyed over to the picnic tables for 7s or for today, “Sietes.” PAX would perform super step-ups at the picnic tables, then run to the curb by the street where they would perform Catalina Wine Mixers. Plank for the six. And yes… “ole…” 5 more burpees

Moseyed to the fields in the back of the school for “Campo de Suenos.” PAX were split into four groups. The group at Home did 15 Burpees and then ran to 1st. The group at 1st did Hallelujahs AMRAP until the Home group got there. They then ran to 2nd to relieve the group that was doing LBCs AMRAP. That group left for 3rd base where a group was doing Jump Lunges AMRAP. This group headed home for burpees. Continue until all four groups had completed burpees. “Ole…” 5 more burpees

Moseyed over the the basketball court for bearcrawl suicides. Starting at one baseline, bearcrawl to that free throw line, then backpeddle back to baseline. Bearcrawl to half court, then backpeddle back to baseline. Bearcrawl to opposite free throw line, then back to baseline. Bearcrawl to opposite baseline, then backpeddle back to original baseline. “Ole…” 5 more burpees

Moseyed over to the gravel track area. Partnered up for two laps of “Catch Me if you Can.” Partner A would perform “cinco” Merkins while the other partner would start to backpeddle around track. Once that partner was caught, they would flapjack. Did this for two laps. Plank for the six and yes, “Ole…” 5 more burpees

Moseyed back to the flag to spend some time with Maria. Each Pax got to lead 3 sets of exercises and yes, we ended with “Ole…” 5 more burpees

Moleskin:

Really enjoyed leading this workout today over at 116. I was getting worried that Camp-o-Ree was going to take most of the 116 regulars so thanks to the 3 PAX that beat the fartsack and came out. Great fellowship and great push by all PAX. Enjoyed the Cinco de Mayo theme and towards the end when YHC yelled “ole,” I think I heard some curse words back at me in Spanish! If you have not had the opportunity to post at this AO, do yourself a favor and post as it’s a great AO and a great way to start off your Saturdays!

Until Next Time…
