YHC arrived at Town Common a bit early and planted the shovel flag. Conch Fritter pulled up shortly thereafter and we were able to meet for the first time – he’s a good dude. 5:15 was approaching, but no other PAX were present. YHC was afraid that the Ironclad Half was keeping everyone away from this grueling test, but just before we took off, everyone else showed up in a caravan.

YHC gave a short explanation for the three guys who had never run #TheClimb before and we moseyed to the start line. YHC went over the route one more time and we were off. Novocaine set the unofficial F3ENC 100 meter sprint record with his takeoff and we didn’t see him again until the finish line. He was a man on a mission! The rest of us put in a mean mean stride and I believe everyone set a PR on the first round. Then we recovered back to the start line and ran it again, but this time it was for grit, not for records. Convincing yourself to run this route a second time after giving it everything you’ve got on the first run is tough. It’s like a lot of things in life though, you can’t rest on what you’ve already accomplished when there’s more work to be done.

Come join us on the third Tuesday of next month and see if you’re getting stronger, faster, and tougher. This will be a standing workout that we do at The Summit to measure ourselves. See if you’re fast enough to make the top of the leaderboard. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. It’s the toughest mile in ENC. Are you up for the challenge?
