YHC was a bit concerned this afternoon, as the forecast wasn’t in our favor.  I wasn’t concerned about the weather itself.  I was concerned that PAX wouldn’t post because of the weather.  It’s bad enough posting in inclement weather, but if the workout sucks, it’s like adding salt to the wound.  So, I needed to make sure everyone was going to get more than they bargained for.  They needed to have their sixes kicked.  It had to be worthwhile for them to post and I had to try to rally the PAX and hope they’d post.  So I did the only thing I knew to do and threw out a bit of trash talk on Twitter to keep everyone interested….if you want Easy, don’t post at Boyd Lee….goto Staples.  For good measure I threw in a photo the of EASY button.  Another Tweet about an hour before the workout not to let the rain deter anyone from posting because they were going to be wet when I was done with them anyways.

Whether purely coincidental, or a result of the Twitter posts, I do not know.  What I do know is that 15 men posted, which is a record for the Tremendous Thursday….and TREMENDOUS it was!

I arrived a few minutes early to setup a battle rope at the shelter and drop off an 8lb ball while Pepperoni headed to the PAX to let them know we’d be moseying to the shelter.  I made my way to the pullup bars to find a couple of handfuls of men already making small talk.  Within 5 minutes, the others arrived and it was on.  It went something like this…

WARMUP

  • Mosey from the shovels flag to the shelter

THANG

Tabata style counting was on the menu tonight.  20 secs of exercise one, followed by 10 secs of rest; then, 20 secs of exercise two, followed by 10 secs of rest;  rinse and repeat for 4 minutes.  Then we switched exercises and forged ahead.

In order to keep it a bit more interesting, there were two more elements:  a battle rope and a 8lb slam ball.  1 PAX worked the battle rope for 4 minutes and another worked the slam ball for 4 minutes and then new PAX rotated in

The exercises were:

  • Round 1:  Seal Jacks & WWII situps (after about 2 minutes, #mumblechatter from CB about “variety” followed by #countermumblechatter regarding the variety of Lt. Dans)
  • Round 2:  Imperial Walkers & Mountain Climbers
  • Round 3:  High Knees & Planks
  • Round 4:  Agitators & Merkins
  • Round 5:  Burpees & Freddy Mercuries
  • Round 6:  Plank Jacks & Supermans
  • Round 7:  Butt Kickers & Dollies
  • Round 8:  Step Ups & Irkins

After the last round, we moseyed back to the flags and circled up
