When YHC gets a call from the fitness Q he knows something is up. YHC wondered “Who said I hurt’em?” and “Did I give the disclaimer last time I Q’d?” It turns out he had a proposal and it was great news. An infusion of new leadership for Warrior Wednesday and he knew I would be for it. More on that later. With the changes coming in mind and remembering how this opportunity to serve came to me I knew a trip down memory lane was due. I also wanted to keep my brother Papa Smurf in mind. He put names on the site like Mount Murphy, The Grassy Knoll, Minges Meadow and The Tunnel of Love. I knew we wouldn’t get to all the best spots but we would do somethings that were pure Papa. The hour struck 5:30, the circle was formed, disclaimer given and we were off like a dirty shirt.

When we do these I think “This ain’t a Mean Mean Stride exercise. It’s old men from the 1920’s but Papa makes sure we are taken care of. See, The Stadium started as a site where guys who were coming off injury or illness could post and not feel as if they were holding the rest of the Pax back. Papa Smurf makes sure every Pax feels welcome and that spirit will always be a part of this AO.

Papa does these at the end of a workout to make sure we take care of ourselves. He knows guys engage in some post mumblechatter and then jump in their chariots to charge into the day.

During YHCs conversation with the fitness Q last night I flashed back to a workout that took place at Gate 5 over a year ago and getting the fitness Q glare when they were talking about site Q’s for a new AO. I remember the excitement of being able to give back by leading men in the gloom and wanting to do justice for the Pax. Papa Smurf was the first to endorse his choice. He is a continuous source of encouragement and support that continues to inspire and motivate in the gloom. See, the Stadium has that spirit of growth. Papa Smurf’s spirit. The infusion of new leadership is always welcomed at any AO and The Stadium is no different. Warrior will continue to grow and evolve into whatever the Pax needs it to be. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Gate 5 will always have the living 3rd spirit. That’s Papa Smurf’s spirti! AYE! #meanmeanstride
