YHC was out of town on business mid-week and was having a hard time EH’ing the PAX to try and get a volunteer for Q’ing #westsidestory.  With the number of AO’s now on Fridays, it is getting harder to get PAX to make the journey to #westsidestory, but YHC continues to be committed to this excellent location.  Feeling a touch of bad attitude developing late the day before the workout, YHC countered with the growing lure of the #fartsack #excusesaboutgettinginlatefromworktrip #generalsuckingness by aggressively deciding to Q and get on with the weinke planning.  Decided to go with an ocean theme since Rip Tides have been in the news this past week.  Rejected first idea, then when with a starfish concept.  Packed some directional signs and the #shovelflag into the Hot Pursuit Jeepster,and was on my way to the AO in the humid gloom.  Arrived to find one of the main road entrances was completely blocked.  Had to U-turn, and got in through another entrance.  More obstacles trying to crush my resolve.  Not happening.  Decided to disgard the shirt and go Chip-n-Dale to throw caution to the wind.  Mosquitos, grass clippings, dirt, leakage….. bring it on.  This Q/PAX was committed to this workout and all-in.  Planted flag, placed signs at five starfish points around the soccer field with a center point mid-field, returned to parking lot and awaited the PAX.  YHC thought it might end up being a OYO Q myself, but a car approached a few minutes prior and out jumped Fruity Pebbles and Cheese Head.  Pleasantries exchanged, then the moment arrived……

Warm Up:  SSH, IC X 15; Arm/Shoulder Slow Rotations Forward and Backward; Good Morning, IC, X 15; Warm Up Lap Around Parking Lot, Mosey to Soccer Field

The Thang:

  • Six Station Ladder Build Up “Starfish”.  Burpees at center point, bear crawl to first point, Lunges, run to next point, Imperial Walkers, run to next point, Merkins, run to next point, Plank Jacks, run to next point, Squats, run to center point.  Rinse and Repeat building number of reps at each station every round. X1, X2, X3…… goal was to get to the X10 round of the escalator/ladder.
  • After the 5 rep round, YHC directed to reverse direction and modify bear crawl segment.  PAX made it to the 8 rep level, then YHC directed PAX back to #shovelflag as time was running out (along with YHC’s energy level).  Fruity Pebbles gave a ten count, favoring the even numbers.
  • A few minutes left on the clock allowed for some Mary.  YHC led a trilogy of flutterkicks X 20, Box Cutters X 10 and American Hammers X 10 and concluded with a minute or so of plank time

  • Prayer Requests:  Fruity Pebbles Mother in Law recovering from throat cancer surgery, Cheese Head’s safe travels next week with youth mission trip, and Hot Pursuit’s son Chris (ongoing depression challenges) and safe travels for son Steven and Wife and Daughter returning from Kentucky tomorrow.

Moleskin:  Great opportunity this morning to overcome psychological and physical obstacles for YHC.  This was the first full workout YHC has been able to attempt for weeks due to neck and back issues, but necessity called and it was good to get a Q in and to interact with two PAX YHC had not met before.  Hope to have some of the #westsidestory “regulars” back next week.  Praise God from Whom all Blessings Flow.  Hot Pursuit out.
