YHC arrived a little early and shared a few stories from last week’s Appalachian Trail adventure.
At 5:28, the route was announced.
“We are going to run down Old NC 11.”
Faces contorted.
The tension was thick.
The PAX was stricken with a fear that was more tangible than the sweat droplets that would soon fill our foreheads and transform into major leakage.
It was dangerous.
Too dangerous.
Unaware drivers.
Little shoulder.
Darkness.
No where to escape.
The crickets were even silent as the fear overtook us.
Old NC 11 is like the Fangorn Forest!!!
Sometimes in life, you just have to listen to your brothers and call an audible.
We would do an out and back on Church Street.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Most PAX reached the 5 mile mark on our out and back on the idyllic Church Street.
YHC counted a total of two cars.
One of them was parked illegally on our sidewalk path.
And Cousin IT let them know it.
Great push by all!
