This story was inspired by Bono, a man with a big heart, big ears, and (according to him) a big…  Well, I’ll leave that thought to the side.  Anyways YHC has been watching Bono intentionally showing support to smaller AOs and giving honest and helpful guidance to aid in the growth of those AOs.  Inspired by his efforts, YHC was driven to serve the PAX at the AO that started my Qing career and is now rebuilding its core pax.  After all, our mission is to plant, grow and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership.  When the Q showed up, the flag was already planted, the sky was displaying a beautiful sunrise, and the PAX was eagerly awaiting an epic beatdown.

We warmed up with 20 SSH and 20 Squats and were off to the races.

The Thang

Half of a Dora 1-2-3 – Partner Up – Teams of 2 pax working together to reach cumulative exercise goals of 50 Merkins, 100 LBCs, and 150 Squats. Pax 1 executes as many reps as possible while Pax 2 sprints 100 yards down and back. Flapjack until team goal is reached.

Get a different Partner and perform the following exercises around the track.

  • 200m walking lunges (Serious Mumble Chatter)
  • 50 Merkins per Team
  • 200m Bear Crawl (Even More Serious Mumble Chatter)
  • 50 squats per Team
  • 200m Broad Jump (5 steps in between each broad jump)
  • 50 burpees
  • 200m Partner Carry (YHC was grateful that I picked Pepperoni)

Mosey to the playground and get a different partner and perform the following reps per team

  • 20 Pull ups (Playground)/40 Box Jumps (Picnic Tables) (Bono and YHC did table top jumps and Bono may have regretted his decision when he missed somewhere around rep number 30 and left a piece of his shin on the tabletop)
  • 15 Pull ups/30 Box Jumps
  • 10 Pull ups/20 Box Jumps

Six Minutes of Mary led by Divac who machine gunned the pax with a multitude of exercises.

  • Adrien who was struck by lightning – Pray for recovery
  • Prayers for Dave Mirra’s family.

Moleskin

It was great to have a visiting PAX (Divac from Hartsville) and an FNG (Blanca from Vanceboro who was named after Julian Casablancas, the lead singer of the Strokes.  Casablancas was rejected by Wimpy because it had too many syllables.).  Both of these guys pushed hard and were great examples of F3.  It’s always great to meet guys from a different region because it’s like talking to a friend that you have never met.

The Pax has been using the COT in the last few months for what it is really designed for, transparency, cries for help, a call to action, 30 Second spiritual and emotional lessons/struggles, etc. Today was no different with a brief thoughts reflecting the recent suicide in our community and the need for transparent and candid male relationships and accountability in our lives.  It’s really cool to watch how the PAX has transformed in the last year from a few guys that worked out together to a growing group of friends that are pushing each other to become better men in every aspect of their lives.
