As YHC prepared for Build Up at Boyd Lee Park (BLP), I was wondering about how many of my F3 brothers would show up. It seems that there are a lot of work out options these days that compete for the brotherhood’s attention. Whether it is a traditional workout, a “Broga” session, or any of the Ruck options there is no shortage of options for us to choose from. What follows is a summary of what those of us who chose Build Up endured:

Warm Up:

  • High Knees x 30 seconds
  • Good Mornings x 15 IC
  • Michael Phelps x 15 IC

Thang:

The pax were given a choice of Near or Far … Short Round chose Far and thus we ran to the “hub” of BLP and performed 10 Derkins off the wall.

Our next choice was between North or South … Khaki’s chose North and moseyed down (up?) the northern spoke of the wheel and continued with 50 Flutter Kicks IC.

From the northern intersection we had another choice to make … Left or Right? Short Round (gratefully) chose Right so we moseyed to YHC’s right (perspective makes a difference!) in a counter-clockwise direction around the perimeter track to the picnic shelter. Once we arrived the PAX performed 7’s consisting of Dips off the picnic benches and pull-ups (or whatever modification the Pax chose) on the play-ground.

A or B was the next decision to be made. Khaki’s chose A, so we moseyed back to the center of the park (the “hub”) and did a set of Alternating Shoulder Taps.

By this point, we still had approximately 15 minutes left in the workout. The consequence of so many choices that had occurred prior (YHC not filling the workout with enough exercises for a full 45-minutes being one of them; several Pax choosing to fart-sack or go to different AO being another one, etc.) faced us with the consequence of performing the other exercises from our list of choices. So, here is how we tackled this dilemma:

  1. Our first choice was Far, so now we “chose” Near, stayed put, and performed box cutters.
  2. Our second choice was North, so now we chose South and moseyed to the base of Mount Boyd Lee and did two sets of Lt Dan’s (1 lunge to 4 squat pattern) up and then back down the hill.
  3. Our third choice was Right, so we then chose Left and moseyed to the big rock pile (YHC’s Favorite!) and did a couple sets of Curls, Triceps Extenensions, Overhead Press, and Bent Over Row with a coupon (rock). Pax led in each exercise.
  4. Our final initial choice was A so now we chose B which led us back to the flag were we concluded with some sprints until the clock struck 0615 hours.

We concluded our time together with BOM and reflected a little about the choices that we make and how they always have a consequence. Sometimes that consequence is “good” and sometimes not so much. The point is that the choices that we make are not inconsequential. There is always some sort of consequence. Lord, help us make good choices.

Aye!
