Tonka and YHC were corresponding on the Twitter machine last week talking smack about what we could be partaking of in our cities.  He was in Amsterdam and YHC was in Denver.  So the talk bordered on the dispensaries in the Rocky Mountains and what you can get for EUR 50 in the Red Light district in 15 minutes.  One common theme among the nuggets of truth was that we both longed to get back into the gloom.  Thus an idea was launched, to co-Q at the Stadium, to explore the potential of that soft, soft grass that feels like the powered rear of a high class lady of the evening. The weather was perfect, the birds were chirping, the humidity was heavy – it was a perfect ENC morning for 17 brothers to post.

Warm-up Exploration – We started the workout in a Huddle prayer after the disclaimer b/c that’s what the Denver boys do.  It’s a little different for the ENC pax, but they went with it.  Tried to leave with the quote from Papa Smurf “Remember that your life matters to so many, so do good work, laugh everyday, and press on.” It wasn’t that eloquent in the gloom.

We had to do some exploration of the AO, so we moseyed to circle at end of Dowdy-Ficklen by Elmhurst, with the call “Follow me”…it was SSH IC, Imperial Walkers IC, and Don Quixote IC to start us off.  Then we moseyed through the parking lot towards an interesting “Grassy Knoll”. Now in the beautiful, muggy Coastal Plains of F3ENC, a hill of 5 ft, counts as getting “high”, so that’s what we did, we got as high as we could for round 2 of the warm-up. It was Merkins  slowMo IC and more on a Down Count for speed, then Mt Climbers IC; and Squats to finish that out. We did a final “follow me” to Murphy Field for the Thang.

The Thang – Gettin’ High with your partner >  We started with partner work completing reps as a pair. The idea was to have the 1st exercise count for the reps and the 2nd is the Mumble Chatter exercise. When a pair finishes the counted exercise, they do the 2nd exercise til 6 is done.  Teamwork & Mumble Chatter is the key.  We started with 50 Burpees with Merkins as the chatter exercise; followed by 100 WWI sit-ups w/Flutter kicks. The abs were feeling the 2nd set with the combo working both the lower and upper abs. We had to get ready for the October 1st start to the Sit-up Challenge and honor Mettle Forger.  Skipper, Hat Trick, Abacus, Socrates, and Dicky Tricky were busy talking about how G-String was missing this morning.  They thought he got his thong stuck on the faucet of the sink as he was checking to see if he had any visible ass warts.  That has never happened to YHC for the record.

Next Tonka was up to take us down to Amsterdam.  It turned into Amster-Damn!

15 Minutes in the Red Light District – In an effort to educate the PAX on the economics behind Amsterdam ladies of the night, Tonka explained that “he heard” EUR 50 will get you 15 minutes S&F in the red light district. Being a frugal minded accountant, he thought to himself “that doesn’t really seem like a bargain” so the goal today was to get a deep (really deep) understanding of how long 15 minutes actually is. Most of the Pax, namely Mellow Johnny, Early Bird, and Bono, figured that 3 minutes was all it takes. Duff, Aqua Man, & Home Town, snickered, thinking “those boys can’t last 4 1/2 minutes – rookies”. ATB, Dizzy, Old Bay, Beaufort, & Stitches simply remained stoically quiet, like real men. The PAX ran down the hill to lower Minges and back up, doing one burpee at the top. This was rinsed and repeated for 15 minutes, adding one burpee each round. Most of the PAX was between 7 to 10 round and we think Hat Trick may have done 15 or so, zig zagging along the way to help remind his fellow Rose colleagues of physical might.

To finish us off Tonka & the crew Moseyed to the Flag – 25 Freddie Mercuries (Amsterdam Inspired) and 15 WW2 Situps. It was Amster-Damn!

BOM/COT – Tonka and Skipper had a talk about the good things going on at the Stadium and the fun that was had today with the personalities and solid work of men, pushing each other. Our goal is having that “home” feeling at every AO. Prayers for Goose’s Father in Law, who was killed in a car accident. Those with cancer/leukemia. Socrates player’s dad.

Announcements – Bring your rear end to the Pax Lunches; to the New Bern Launch – that’s part of F3 “Give it Away”.

Moleskin – Nuggets of Truth are what make a Back Blast worth reading.  Therefore, it’s appropriate to tell a story about how Tonka enjoyed discovering how much a Lady of the Evening would cost in Amsterdam and YHC would enjoy learning how to enter a Dispensary and not seeming like a high school freshman buying a condom the first time. Boy that was really scary the first time that ever happen…at 37 years old.

One of the beauties of traveling to different AOs is that there is always something to bring back.  As F3ENC grows and develops, it’s amazing how much YHC has to search now to find something cool to bring back.  In Chapel Thrill there was the Benjamins (started with 100 pull-ups as an individual). Figured Belding did that and he’s a 56 year old stud, so nope.  Then there was a very cool run and gun workout a Mile High up. We don’t have the altitude, but we have the heat and humidity and amazingly enough, YHC was able to talk with three, YES 3 North Carolina guys at the Denver workout and finish very strong with the men of F3 Littleton. Our humidity seems just as strong as their altitude. There were rumors of the 1 mile the hard way from the Denver/Littleton pas (1 lap backwards run, 1 lap lunges, 1 lap bear crawl, 1 lap run). Now that will make an appearance somewhere. The huddle prayer made it into todays workout.  There is always something to bring back from a visit across the F3 Nation.

Maybe that’s what made today so cool for YHC. Life has been busy, really, really busy lately. Been missing working out with my brothers. Even when posting, those long time friends, from the first time YHC posted kept missing the post YHC made.  It’s the accountability of your brothers – those particular brothers that say “You posting tomorrow?” after your 3rd post. Your brain thinks, I just want to go home, yet that invitation says, “Yeah, I’ll be there.” Today was about the mumble chatter, about connecting back with those true friend and new friends. We talked about getting high and 15 min in the Red Light district, but really it was about the brotherhood of getting up in the gloom of the morning and “pressing on” as Papa Smurf would say. That’s what it was all about. That’s what F3 is all about.
