  • QIC: Short stop

People always say that things happen for a reason.  On Saturday, November 7th, five PAX from Kinston went to steal the booty at 116.  Unbeknownst to the guys from Kinston, another AO a couple miles down the road posted as well.  This led to several lively discussions on SLACK and we will leave those discussions for SLACK.  The workout Q, Lynyrd Skynard, hosted a competition that the Kinston guys won.  However, in the end both Lynyrd Skynard and the site Q, Haavaad, came up with a fair compromise.  They gave the booty flag to the guys in Greenville and promised the Kinston guys their own flag.  As promised, a few days later at Splashinwoodies in Kinston, Lynyrd Skynard and Haavaad showed up with a flag and joined our ruck workout.

With the blessings of both Lynyrd Skynard and Haavaad, they said we can do what we want with this flag.  And so the five guys who went to capture the booty came up with some rules and a nice tiebreaker!  This also led to some new tiebreaker rules for the real Booty as well, you can see those https://www.f3enc.com/backblasts/general/surrender-the-booty-flag-f3stbflag/

This will be a Kinston Flag, there will be NO capturing of this flag from other regions.  The Booty Flag is still out there for taking.  For now, we will call it the Kinston Crossbones Flag.  We hope to eventually replace the Crossbones Flag with our Kinston Logo and keep the same rules.

1.  This flag remains at one AO in Kinston for a month. The AO in Kinston that has the most FNGs for the previous month will capture the flag for the next month.

2.  The flag must move to a different AO the next month, unless there are no FNGs that post in Kinston during the current month. That is the only way that the flag can stay at the same AO for two consecutive months.

  • For example, the Flood Zone has the flag in December. It cannot hold the flag in January, even if they had the most FNGs the previous month.  A new AO will hold the flag in January and the Flood Zone can capture the flag back in February.

3.  If there is a tie between two or more AOs with FNGs, then the following tie-breaker will be in effect. Based only on the FNGs, the highest percentage rate of them that posted at any other F3 workout the remainder of that month (not including the initial post).  Percentage will be based off number of posts for that month divided by the number of workout days left in the month.

  • For example, both Row the Boat and the Swamp had 2 FNGs in November. The FNGs at Row the Boat posted on 11/9 and 11/16.  The FNGs at the Swamp posted on 11/10 and 11/24.  After the initial post, each person from Row the Boat posted another 5 times the remainder of the month; while the Swamp FNGs posted another 4 times the remainder of the month.  Here is the break down:
    • Flood Zone FNG #1 – 5 posts out of 18 opportunities
    • Flood Zone FNG #2 – 5 posts out of 12 opportunities
    • Sum – 10 posts out of 30 opportunities which is 33.3% rate of posting
    • Swamp FNG #1 – 4 posts out of 17 opportunities
    • Swamp FNG #2 – 4 posts out of 5 opportunities
    • Sum – 8 posts out of 22 opportunities which is 36.4% rate.  The Swamp will capture the Crossbones Flag for the next month.

We have said it plenty of times and will keep saying it, we appreciate all the wonderful mentoring the HIMs of Greenville have done for the Kinston PAX.  This is one more way that Greenville HIMs have given the Kinston PAX the opportunity to have some friendly competition and continue to grow the FIRE that has happened in Kinston the past 3 months.  We now have 8 AOs plus 4 still in expansion in 3 months, well over 100 PAX have attended a workout in Kinston, 2nd F events, 3rd F meetings, several who have signed the Plank, shirts made, and a CSUAP planned.  So the old saying holds true, things happen for a reason and this controversy on 11/7/2020 at 116 has spurred on a new tradition in Kinston.  Thank you Lynyrd Skynard and Haavaad for playing a part in this tradition.
