The black pearl has emerged this week at MASH. Early in the gloom YHC arrived to two pair of ruckers rounding the parking lot. As the time neared the pax showed in a much larger number than anticipated. Little did they know what lie ahead. Troubled waters wait for the unprepared. When the clock struck 5:30 YHC revealed that this was a black pearl workout, designed to be difficult and push the pax but also be fun and allow for chatter. On that note we began.

Warm Up
Side straddle hops x 20 IC

The Thang:

Follow the leader run to the flag pole at the opposite end of the stadium and find a piece of wall for a modified aiken legs

Squats x 20 IC

Box jumps x 20 IC

Lunges x 20 IC (4 count)

Monkey humpers x 10 IC (4 count)

Monkey humpers x 10 IC (4 count) yes we did it twice cause they feel so great

Follow the leader run to the entrance of towne bank tower and circle up for a round of ATM’s

Alternating shoulder taps x 20 IC

Tempo merkins x 20 IC

Merkins x 20 IC

Pax then partnered up for catch me if you can to the round about in front of the baseball stadium.

Partner A backpedal

Partner B 3 burpees and run to catch

Flap jack and continue

Once at the round about pax were instructed that we would perform while I termed stop and go. After much confusion as to what the outer part of the circle was clarified we began. YHC would say go and the pax would bear crawl the perimeter of the round about. When YHC yelled stop the pax then did 5 merkins in cadence. This continued till YHC reached my starting point.

Pax then performed an indian run back to the front of towne bank tower. Once in front of the tower we did the following.

Line jumps forward x 10 IC

Line jump sideways x 10 IC

Burpee line jump over x 10 IC

Right hand elevated merkin x 10 IC

Squat x 10 IC

Left hand elevated merkin x 10 IC

Sumo Squat x 10 IC

Merkin step ups x 10 IC

Copperhead Squats x 10 IC

Follow the leader run to the tunnel.

Chicken peckers x 10 IC

Austrailian mountain climbers x 10 IC

Follow the leader run to the grassy area.

Merkin ladder across the field 5-10-15-20

Squat ladder back across the field 5-10-15-20

Mosey back to the circle for a quick round of mary

YHC had a great time this morning trying to help accelerate the PAX in the 1st F. This is the purpose of the black pearl. The pearl was established to break the status quo and push the pax to be better and to hold each other accountable to not become complacent and just show up at their “normal workout”. But instead help to push pax out of the comfort zone to allow for growth. Be on the look out you never know where the Black Pearl will make port next. Ye Be Warned!
