The Thang:

Well, it was a good morning at alice Keen Park. Had a good turnout of 22 pax members for ruck ready. My work out was cut short due to it taking longer than I expected. The woods loop was longer than I thought. We started by doing 20 side straddle hops in cadence followed by mountain climbers and two laps around the parking lot to get nice and warm. After that, we started down the trail. We got about a 1/8 of a mile down the trail stopped and performed 15 ruck burpees. Now that we got our burpees for the day out of the way we could focus on the 14 burpees we would do after traveling another 1/8 of a mile. We got to the mouth of the wood, it looked kinda scary. I had my men to do 13 burpees to build up their courage. No one was afraid now. In the wood we came along a bench. Upon seeing the bench I thought “We’ve been putting some good work in, this looks like a good place to rest.” So we took a break from walking and did 12 burpees to regain some stamina. This trend continued, 11, and finally 10 by the play ground completing a lap. Here We circled up and put the rucks to our side. Then got in the plank position and pasted the rucks clockwise under us until you ended up with your ruck. We then did 20 ruck squats. We had to balance out the clock so we got back into plank and passed the rucks around counter clockwise this time. From here we moved along to the shelter to with the our rucks in hand. No straps to hold us back. Here we did step-up ruck press 5 each leg. I hate step ups and was ready to be done with them. The next excises we completed was super step ups (thankfully not step us) 10 reps. Our time now was low. We headed back to the flag, but not before completing 10 merkins. The trek back was at a quicker pace. We held our rucks in hand and on my count put the rucks above our heads. We went a little over time so had to double time it back to the flag.

Closing thoughts: The workout I planned took more time than I had expected. It wasn’t quite scaled appropriately, all of what I had planned would have been more like 2 hours. I didn’t release how long the trail was. Also, the ruck circle was clumping and didn’t go smoothly. The varying weight in the rucks (some rucks had tissue boxes as weight, and Jock-iches 60 pound ruck) and people’s ability lead to lots of road blocks. Also, we did it in the gravel. This dirty up some rucks which isn’t a bad thing, but would have been better performed in the grass. Thanks to everyone who stuck it out and put in some hard work, they went above and beyond seeing how we were back at the flag at 6:18-19.

Prayer Request: The families in Las Vegas, and people affected.
