Abstract

Being thrown into the fire can be a scary thing. Three weeks ago, dropout and I were voluntold to Q this week. We accepted the challenge, but we were still apprehensive. Being new guys, all the technical jargon and order of events can be confusing and especially daunting when looking at it like you’re on your own. However, no one is ever on their own. Just as Dropout and I had each other to help us get through this journey of VQing, you too have a support system. Whether it is your wife and kids, close friends, or even your co-workers, everyone in your life is there for a reason. They are there to help you get through whatever struggles you may be going through.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens.”

I challenge everyone to thank at least three people in your life today that are an integral part of your support system, people who may not always get the credit they deserve. With that being said, as Dropout and I sat in the parking lot on a freezing cold spring morning with snow on the ground at 0522, we were questioning whether anyone would show due to inclement weather the night before. To our relief, 8 faithful PAX showed up in support for our VQ.

Warmup

Side Straddle Hops X 11

Good Mornings X 11

Tha Thang

In remembrance of the three weekaversary of my car getting towed, We decided to incorporate that location into the workout.

  • Indian Run down Elm Street, left onto Tenth Street, Right at the MacDonalds headed towards Chico’s. Delivered a warning not to park next to Chico’s on Cotanche Street from 0800 to 1200 during the week due to a loading zone.
  • Mosy to grassy hills across the street from Sup Dogs.
  • Participated in 11s on either side of the valley so that PAX had to start at the top of the hill, run through the valley, and back up the hill. The exercises were Gorilla Humpers and Squats.

(Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and staff comfort me.”)

  • Planks for the 6.
  • Indian Run back to Elm Street by way of Fifth Street with a right onto Elm Street.

There were five minutes left so we did a finisher incorporating the hill in the parking lot.

  • Started at the bottom of the hill, ran up and then down doing an exercise after each set.
    • Merkins X 5
    • Burpees X 4
    • Diamond Merkins X 3
    • Squats X 2
    • Squat Jumps X 1
  • Mosy back the flag.
