The Thang:

9 Pax braved the freezing temps in the gloom as YHC prepared to take them on a tour to the “cold side.”  However, YHC wasn’t quite prepared and had to endure some cold hands and brisk escapades as well. After this past weekend’s 36 mile adventure running the VA Triple Crown Loop with almost 10,000’ of vert, I was prepared to take it slow.

To my delight, we had about half the Pax including Silverback and Hoka (great to see you man) that decided it was a recovery day too. They wanted to keep it nice and easy with a walk plan and the rest of us took off heading towards Church St. where we made a left and headed to Laurie Ellis.

When we got to Laurie Ellis we made another left heading towards Old Tar Rd. The cold morning air really started to blow through my two tech layers and my hands began to get really cold. I was not wearing the right gloves and just had to endure the pain. Once we got to Old Tar we made another left and after a brief stent, made another left on to Bayberry Ln. and followed it around back to Rosewood Dr. where we made another left heading to Main St. We went back for the six on several occasions when we encountered stop signs.

Once we got to Main St., we made another left to head back to Church St. After we got to the end, we doubled back to pick up Smores and Seabass, but they had already cut down Ange St. to head back to the flag. We couldn’t go back on the original course, so I called an audible to cut over Ange St. to Cooper St., then make a left and a right on Forbes Ave.

We had about 7 mins left and were pacing to get back right on time. Once we ran down Forbes Ave., we took a right on Barrel Dr. and headed back to the flag. The rest of the Pax were there waiting. We were one minute late and I ended up with 5.3 miles on very sore legs.
