The Thang (led by Stabler)

Indian Run through the neighborhood, since we had a good amount of PAX, we had two lines. Towards the end of the run some of the PAX got ahead of some of the younger PAX so YHC slowed things down by having everyone do 5 merkins. Ended up back at the quad.

Hungry Hungry Hippo, I mean Bear…
Chose 4 2.0s to serve as captains. Nobody knew the game we were about to play so the captains were warned to choose their team wisely. Picks had to alternate between an adult then a 2.0. After teams were chosen, the game plan was presented to the Pax. We would be playing the F3 version of Hungry Hungry Hippo. Each team was stationed in their respective corner with an empty basket. There was a basket full of 100 plastic balls. One at a time, a team member would bear crawl (hence the name change to Hungry Hungry Bear) to the center, pick up one ball then run back and drop the ball in their team’s bucket. They also had the option to grab two balls by doing 5 merkins and also bear crawl back. (Without dropping any of the balls). YHC was surprised at how many PAX chose that option. Once the ball was in the bucket, the next team member went. This continued until all the balls in the center were gone. In an extremely close contest, the winning team had a total of 24 balls. Winning team members included; Patch, JoJo (FNG), Lilly (FNG), Silverback, Dude Perfect and Stabler.
Winning team- 5 Burpees
Losing team- 10 Burpees

After Hungry Hungry Bear, we stayed on the quad for a quick game of Catch Me if you Can. Adults partnered up with a 2.0. Adults would begin to backpeddle around the quad while the 2.0 performed 5 merkins. After the merkins, the 2.0 chased down the adult. Once caught, partners would switch roles. Originally YHC thought of doing three laps around the quad but with the amount of PAX, the quad had more traffic than what you would see in Los Angeles during rush hour so to ensure nobody got hurt, YHC called an audible for only two laps. Plank for the six.

After we spent time chasing each other during recess, it was time to get back in the classroom and hit the books for a quick session of Alphabet Challenge. A random PAX was chosen. They then said their F3 name and if they did not have one, their birth name. We then performed an exercise for each letter of their name. This was quite a blast as we had many new faces so trying to pick a name with few letters proved to be a challenge. Names that were chosen and the exercises performed included;

Moseyed back to the quad for a little 4 corners fun;
All PAX started at the first corner and performed 3 Burpees. After the Burpees, they sprinted to corner 2 where they did 6 Merkins. Sprinted to corner 3 where they did 9 lunges. Sprinted to the final corner where they did 12 WWIs. We performed a second round but reversed the number this time so we had 12 burpees, 9 merkins, 6 lunges and 3 WWIs. Al Gore for the six.

To my surprise, the PAX were burning through the workout so my weinke was near the end so YHC had to improvise a bit. We moseyed over to the benches for a round of 7s, alternating between step-ups and dips. Plank for the six.

We had a few minutes to spare so no better time to use every second than to spend it doing an exercise I learned from String Bean, The Ring of Fire. PAX circled-up, got in a defensive position and shuffled (Everyday We’re Shuffling) in a direction chosen by YHC. Once YHC said “halt, stop, or whatever random word came out of my mouth” the PAX in front of the ball bucket, got to call out an exercise and all PAX performed that exercise for a 10 count. TClaps to one of the FNGs, JoJo (Hot Shot) for going hardcore and calling out burpees (like we didn’t do enough of them earlier). Now I know where that strength came from to hit that bomb in Williamsport! We did 7 rounds of exercises that worked the entire body.

We were coming up close to 7:30 and YHC so we were going to have a rather large naming session so we decided to mosey back to the flag.

Ended the workout with a little of 2 miles and close to 600 calories burned

What an honor it was for YHC to Q this great group along side of my 2.0, Dude Perfect. Many thanks to Thee Hot Spot for allowing us to serve. The idea of this 2.0 workout really came out of left field between Hot Spot and YHC during a #116 workout a few weeks earlier. It was a bit of a challenge trying to prepare a workout that would be fun for the 2.0s while still proving to be a challenge for the older crew. YHC was so happy happy to see so many 2.0s wake up early on a Saturday in the wind and cold to workout with their Dads. This type of workout should be implemented throughout F3 ENC at different AOs. If you didn’t come out this morning with your 2.0, you missed out but hopefully we can do something similar to this very soon. We had 2.0s as young as 6 out there and all of them absolutely killed it! Great job to all the 2.0s! Personally, I must say that the highlight of my workout was watching and listening to my 2.0 lead us all in prayer. It’s funny because when I Q, leading the workout is not the challenging part to me. Either is writing the backblast… it is actually leading the prayer. Not sure why that’s the case but it is what it is, but watching Dude Perfect lead in such a humble manner made me as proud as I was of him pitching in the LLWS this Summer!

And one last thing… Jake Keater from the Ayden Grifton Times-Leader came out this morning to do a profile story on F3 ENC. He interviewed a lot of the PAX and took some pictures for a feature story that should be coming out this coming Wednesday so be on the lookout for that. Some real good exposure and after the workout, he said that he planned on coming out to join us in the gloom in the hear future! @tlnewspaper

Until next time…

Stabler Out!
