YHC was surprised to see a full parking lot at Boyd Lee this morning at 6:45…typically the PAX are rushing to beat the clock. Must have been all that pent up energy from the day off yesterday. With barely any light, the PAX already in place made the executive decision to move the ultimate football field away from our normal place. Papa Smurf, Chewie and Wimpie were setting up the toys. Clock hit 7 while they were setting up so it was time to kill the chatter…

Warm-Up

Mosey around the perimeter of the field. Plank for the six. Since we were already in position, add 10 merkins OYO followed by 10 side straddle hops and 10 good mornings IC

The Thang

Ultimate Football…always a crowd favorite and brings the 2.0s out to the yard. PAX counted off to set teams (yellow vs. purple headbands). Was bit unbalanced so redistributed by pairing off with guy of equal speed and weight. Thank goodness Papa Smurf was there to remind us the rules (YHC forgets not everyone knows how to play this game). Scoring team names exercise and does 5…other team does 10. PAX seemed to have a thing for the burpee and merkin this morning.

Teams were fairly well matched. At least 4 times YHC saw 2-3 guys less than 4′ tall trying to cover Shrimp…gotta admire their commitment. The purple team had the unbeatable strategy of getting Lachey to throw the ball to the other endzone, which was typically received by Hokie and surprisingly worked for a goal on at least two occasions. 1-minute to go and for first time ever we had a tied game. In lieu of the last exercise, we played to break the tie. 6 turnovers later, the evil yellow team (YHC was on the purple team that totally should have won) finally made it past Lachey’s blocking skills for the winning catch.

Moleskin

Outstanding turn out for an untypically warm December morning the day after Christmas. Was great to see the 2.0s holding their own on the field and the overall improved physical abilities of all the PAX (we’ve come a long way since July fellas).
