The Thing

Several weeks ago I cooked up the idea to have a Strava route that we could use once a month at The Summit to test ourselves, and since this AO is known for its hills, I decided to try and map out the hilliest mile that downtown had to offer. We ran it as Extra Credit to establish the segment, and today was the first official running of The Climb. It’s a tough route that starts at the bottom of Summit Street where it meets the Greenway and winds between First Street and Third Street until it ends at the corner of Harding and Third. We ran it twice today with a recovery walk/mosey in between and then we finished our time with a run through Town Common. If you want the rest of the story, you’ll have to check Strava (though I understand there is some dispute about whether Gazelle or Abu really won the record). If you’re curious, the course record is 6:37 right now. If you think you can beat it, or if you just want to test yourself, come join us on the third Tuesday of next month, when we’ll run it again.

Moleskin

After the BRR I took a few days to recover, and then Florence extended my rest streak a bit longer than I had planned, so it felt really good to be out this morning even though the humidity was oppressive. Special thanks to all the guys who have been a part of launching this AO and keeping it going beyond just Blue Ridge training (though it’s never too early to train for next year).
